I tried downloading version 0.9.6 (M1 compatible). When I ran Logic Dexed crashed validation, but oddly Logic shows it's version 1.0. Does Logic round up version numbers?

I can't help with your install issue unfortunately, but I can make a great comment about your account stats; probably the greatest account-time-alive:post-count ratio on the site!pantonality wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 2:05 pm I tried downloading version 0.9.6 (M1 compatible). Hope you get it working though - I always end up back in Dexed over the years, you can't beat the literal dozens of thousands of presets

It depends on where do you want to download files from:planetearth wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 2:46 am Thanks, but I’ve never needed to log in to GitHub in the past just to download files. I don’t even have an account.
Releases page holds publicly accessible files(under "Assets" heading).
Whereas links to a so-called Github Actions (e.g. https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed/action ... 0239126765) are related to CI/CD stuff (transformation source code files with plain text to binary files you can run).
I don't have a Github account, so not logged in as well. And yes, there is no way to download any of these files.
Well, as long as you don't see download buttons against artifacts here as @lobanov does you are not supposed to know the direct link you trying to open. It's simply doesn't exists in your (and mine and everyone not-logged in) world.planetearth wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 2:46 am In theory, if the page actually exists, I should be actively prompted to log in to get access to it, shouldn’t I? (I’m talking about an inescapable “SIGN IN!” Link/button to get the site visitor on their way can’t think of another site that throws up a “404” error instead of prompting the user to SIMPLY log in to get access to that page.)
The “404” error says “that page isn’t here”. It doesn’t say “that page is behind a door; we’ll bring you to it and you can log in”
Therefore, I have two assumptions:
* Github devs just didn't want to bother with proper status codes in such circumstances
* For the security reasons, Github devs wanted to hide not only the file itself(via not opening the direct link) but even the existence of the file
P.S. In the upper-right corner there is the button "Sign in to view logs". Maybe it should be treated as "Sign in to view logs and download artifacts and interact with whole web page content in any ways"
There is a good, user-friendly approach: the Surge team publish nightly builds regularly under Releases page at Github. So every time a new version appears you can download it without logging in or follow any other links. Simple. Handy. Perfect.planetearth wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 2:46 am But I’ll just add that to the list of things I don’t like about GitHub. Though I appreciate the help here, and the developers who offer their plug-ins for free. It’s not too difficult to get around/could be easier in some areas. But I get it overall. So thanks, All!

Not only do we publish nightly builds. We publish a reusable composite GitHub action which publishes the nightly builds!
https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/ss ... action.yml
how to use that is way too technical for kvr thread about dexed but its also not that hard. Hit me up on surge discord if you want to use it.

Yes, the Surge team has it down pat, and they're what I was thinking of when I said I don't have to log in to other GitHub sites just to download stuff. But to be fair to the Dexed developer, creating a great emulation of the Yamaha DX7 and knowing the ugly details of dealing with GitHub are two different things. As long as he continues with the former, the latter doesn't really matter.

I've downloaded your nightly builds before, and never had a problem. But they were linked from the home page IIRC, which made it easy.baconpaul wrote: Thu Sep 26, 2024 6:39 pmNot only do we publish nightly builds. We publish a reusable composite GitHub action which publishes the nightly builds!

Yeah we make links to the nightly easy to find too. But the mechanics of turning a GitHub action artifact (which needs a login) into a release (which does not and which has a stable url for links) is what that link above solves
“Always have a nightly of everything for everyone” has served us well though on all our projects indeed!

Am I remembering correctly that the surge team was taking on dexed? Full mpe and UI update sure would be cool like they did with surge.

No but we are contributors to it, are friendly with and working with pascal, and a few years ago we did add a few features, including some of the MPE and micro tuning support. And we have a 'friends' channel in our discord where we chat about things like accessible ui and other features together.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2024 11:40 pm Am I remembering correctly that the surge team was taking on dexed? Oh thanks, didn't see that one! Curious if the CLAP poly expressions have come or are coming to Dexed!?ZonderP wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 2:23 pmYes, sometimes a bit more, sometimes less...Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 1:09 pmOh cool. Hi!
Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I wanted to mention that it would be great to have a visual representation of the value of the "Tune" knob. It could be useful to know how many cents up or down the tuning is set to. For now I'm using a tuner to be able to adjust this exactly.
Thanks for an absolutely amazing plugin!

I used to have a working version of dexed on my older Mac Pro with Sierra 10.12.6 and Logic 10.4.4. I do not know the precise version it was but it was before 0.9.9. I downloaded 0.9.9 and installed that. The standalone application worked but the AU one did not. Plugin manager said it could not be opened. Attached is the complete message.
I tried the same with all earlier versions on github I could find and the result was always the same.
HELP PLEASE
