I finished assembling the last module on Thursday and the case arrived yesterday. I've already got soooo many patch ideas!

Eowave Supamix on the way. Also, picked up a deal on a Disting EX last night.
Currently looking at distortion/overdrive modules, favorites are Sovage Engineering's Le Brasier, Expert Sleepers' Pandora, and Noise Engineering's Kith Ruina.

Oooh. Didn’t know about Supamix. Nice pan control and love the mute.Constructed Identity wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2024 3:14 pm Eowave Supamix on the way. Also, picked up a deal on a Disting EX last night.

Is Ohmicide crossed off the list?

Yea, they make a bunch of _____ Ruina modules with various features, leaning on ones with eq so Kith is on there for its small size and low power draw. Great video Divkid did on the Pandora and it made it the fav.

I've been thinking about grabbing the Viol Ruina, and would set aside my Legio for now. I do like a distortion/filter combo.
What's holding me back is that I do already have Blades, cDVCA, Lacrima Versio, Rossum Morpheus (whose distortion admittedly tends to be very different) and could put the Roucha Legio firmware back on instead of Librae. (And there's Runciter and other software options too...)
And me and my wallet both like the idea of just not buying more gear for a while.
And with Aodyo Loom unlikely to see the light of day, my next purchase might be an Erae II (if *it* has a successful launch and good reviews)

I've heard hardware distortion can do things software can't....and then there is the immediate gratification of hearing something bathed in distortion.
Again, CV control will be a factor. I might have to get an expander for Pamela's Pro workout.

Well yeah, I used to have a Devi Ever Truly Beautiful Disaster and no sane software is gonna imitate that
It occasionally picked up truckers' CB radios (we're about 2.5 miles from the highway as the crow flies and the pedal didn't have an antenna, at least not on purpose...)
For my purposes my bases are covered though. (I do have the wild-ass distortion in Elmyra, the aforementioned Blades and cDVCA which are all analog distortion.) The analog Ruinas definitely have flavors of their own, but eh, I'm good.

as a kid, my portable tv (with the dial and circle antenna) would pick up cb conversations, in the middle of programs.foosnark wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2024 5:40 pm Well yeah, I used to have a Devi Ever Truly Beautiful Disaster and no sane software is gonna imitate thatIt occasionally picked up truckers' CB radios (we're about 2.5 miles from the highway as the crow flies and the pedal didn't have an antenna, at least not on purpose...)
watching some wildlife documentary, and a polar bear suddenly asks for your handle?

New, fancier Disting just dropped
I'm personally not going to go for it. I've found that this kind of thing feels like a compromise between modular and a DAW, and it doesn't make sense for me when I'm already integrating those two things in their best forms anyway. But it's still a cool thing. Polyphonic Plaits for instance...
