The features and controls for the UnFairchild 670M II plugin are the same as the hardware, with a few additions. We added an Output Level Control, Wet/Dry Mix control, and an Overall THD control. The Overall THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) control allows you to increase or decrease the amount of UnFairchild style THD character.

This looks pretty cool, but I haven't seen any discussion of it here.

Price has been reduced to $99 intro/$149 regular. I'm comparing it right now to see how it compares to the UAD Fairchild and if it's worth it for me to get it.

It's a superb plugin but I have to say kudos to Undertone for refunding customers who bought the plugin the difference between the plugin's current price and the ones who bought it at the higher price.

It's basically just another glorified Kiive product...

I leave that judgement to you...

(but anyone who rates him highly is in the luck as Eddie is putting out new stuff left and right via three different brands)

Thanks.

I’m personally not really into Kiive plugins, but I really like this one. There’s just something about it that sounds really good.

Try it out, it is an excellent plugin.

It is one of the only FC's which retain the bass in stereobus AND slaps a lot in drumbus. Very good sounding, better than UAD for sure for me when slapping hard.

I'm unfamiliar with this brand; what don't you like about it?

So would you say it's a lot better than MJUC?

If i may, there’s this coder name Eddie who owns Kiive. He codes for Mixland and Purafied too. He also coded the UnFairchild. I do not use any of his coded plugins but i tried UnFairchild and i really liked it. You can really push it and it sounds amazing.

To (kind of) answer my own question:

Right, it's quite good indeed. It can certainly hold its own quite well - I must admit I prefer it over the IK one (which certainly isn't too shabby at all itself) - I'm just still not so sure about that pricetag. For half the intro I'd probably impulse-buy it.

Post

Okay, upon further testing, I overall still like MJUC more - even though the Unfairchild can do some things that are hard to get out of MJUC - but the latter has thickness and warmth in spades the Unfairchild doesn't offer and is a lot more flexible - and I am exclisively tallking about the Fairchild inspired mode here and then there's the two other ones which are even more flexible.

And then there's the price difference of course... so whoever doesn't have MJUC yet should imo clearly get this one first.
