Could I get a changelog for the latest update? Also, is there a newsletter I can sign up for? I'd like to keep better track of what's new.

A single color cable color option would be cool. Like "All White" or something like that. Or add an option to choose the color you want. I just think it looks nice when the patch cables are all the same color. Obviously, that's less than ideal for anyone trying to reverse-engineer a patch, but it's just a sexy look imo

IIRC, you can choose to have all white cables if you prefer, although I can't imagine why you would.
Then it's a very strange one because it works perfectly well at home but not at rehearsal. Anyway, thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

Good for what? I've never found a use for either. OTOH, I use ARP Odyssey and ARP 2600 all the time and Prophecy, PolySix and Mono/Poly get a bit of use here and there. I've tried to use Triton a few times, when I've wanted a choir or piano or something, but I always find something that's better for what I need. I wouldn't even bother with the M1, even though I owned one back in the day.

Awesome, I guess that's why there are mega giant hits made with the M1 and the Triton, tell us have you ever had giant mega hits that topped the charts? I mean since you think the entire music world wants to make bad Nine Inch Nails rip offs and all and if it doesn't work for that well it's just worthlessBONES wrote: Sat Oct 05, 2024 11:31 am Good for what? Edit: Photo of Tent and Charlie from NIN with Dre in the studio with a Korg Triton, so you know I am not a hater of either. BTW this was posted by Charlie himself the synth genius that he is

I don't think I've had any mega giant chart topping hits since I mostly do jazz, but
M1 and Triton seem to be on a lot of great records. I used the M1 constantly in the 90's.
Sold my Triton Studio last year and love the plug in version. The best thing about these two particular
Korg units is you get and the sound cards and expansions, worth a ton to me in my little studio.

Actually, our 4th album spent two weeks at no. 1 on the only chart that matters to us, and the single from that album got to no. 2, I think. The two albums we've released snice then haven't quite managed the same feat but they've bounced around in the top 10, the last one for 13 weeks. If I compare that to the album I made with an M1, well, I think I only sold about 40 of those, plus a few more recent downloads from BandCamp, 30 years later. In it's time, the M1 was a revelation, it allowed me to do things I could never have done before, but that was a long time ago and the technology has moved on considerably.IvyBirds wrote: Sat Oct 05, 2024 1:52 pmtell us have you ever had giant mega hits that topped the charts?
Do you know how big the sample content was for the M1? 4MB. 4MB total, for all of those different sample sets, from drum kits to piano to choir and all the rest of it. I've got hi-hat samples that are bigger than 4MB.
NIN is krap. I loved their first album, although I don't think it has stood the test of time very well, but they very quickly went to custard. Downward Spiral was the last NIN thing I bought and I probably haven't listened to it in 25 years. But if that shows the breadth of your experience, there's probably no use discussing music with you.I mean since you think the entire music world wants to make bad Nine Inch Nails rip offs and all and if it doesn't work for that well it's just worthless
And when was that photo taken? 25 years ago? It's one thing to have an interest in analogue synths from the 70s but Triton is completely digital, just like our computers. Would you use a computer from 1997 for music production today? No, you wouldn't, so why would you be interested in a digital synth from the same era? I wish there had been this many gullible idiots around when I was selling mt Trinity in the early 2000's, I might have got a bit of money for it, instead of virtually giving it away.Photo of Tent and Charlie from NIN with Dre in the studio with a Korg Triton, so you know I am not a hater of either. Do you think he still uses a Triton, 30 years later? I bet he doesn't. Do you think he got famous because he was using a Triton, or do you think maybe he is a lot more talented than you or I will ever be? Here's a quick example of what Charlie's using in the 21st Century -He said of this photo "Me rocking the Korg Triton, with Trent and Dr. Dre, and Danny Lohner lurking in the background"
If you want to be like Charlie Clouser, this is the stuff you should be lusting after.
What I find interesting, though, is how defensive you get when somebody dares to have a different opinion. Now that I've seen a bit of the background to your post, though, I can see where your thinking is so flawed.

Totally agree, the M1 had a profound impact in music in the late 1980s, into the 1990s, as did the Triton a decade or so later. I used to gig with the holy trinity of the DX7, M1, and D50. I still gig with sampled layers patches from them.N 4 LIFE wrote: Sat Oct 05, 2024 11:31 pm I don't think I've had any mega giant chart topping hits since I mostly do jazz, but

Having a M1 and a Triton plugin with all of the expansions included is unbelievable
It's hard to imagine being so uncreative that you can't see why so many people would find having both of them so useful in any genre of music

Yes, it had a profound impact 36 years ago, when it was released. So did the first Mac in 1984 but absolutely nobody would want to use one of those in 2024, would they? Remember, too that everyone who had an M1 was really happy to give it up for a Trinity, just as they gave up their Trinity for a Triton, then their Triton for ProTools, Logic or Cubase. Those instruments had their time but their time has well and truly passed, any interest you might think you have in them is purely nostalgic. I used lust after my bandmate's Prophecy and I was so excited when it got added to the Collection, right up to the point where I actually tried to use it in a song. Blech! It's horrible.
I just realised I also owned a Triton, sort of. I bought a microX in 2007 that we used for a few years. It had the whole 32MB Triton ROM plus another 32MB of new, mostly unique sample content. In fact, if go to Vintage Synth Explorer to read about microX, guess whose write-up you'll be reading?
If you were going to put an instrument into the VST collection, why not put the microX? It would make a tonne more sense than Triton. But there is a one word answer to this question that explains it completely - nostalgia. But, as someone who has actually owned all those synths, I think I probably have a better perspective on it than most and no rose-tinted glasses when I look back at the "Good Ol' Days".

@BBFG# - I don't get defensive, I just try to explain myself better if people seem not to understand on the first pass.

Seems like you are the one being defensive. All I did was share my opinion about crappy wannabe Nine Inch Nail ripoffs. Why is that an issue? I mean since you value the opinions of others and all?BONES wrote: Sun Oct 06, 2024 12:58 am What I find interesting, though, is how defensive you get when somebody dares to have a different opinion. But you asked a question on response to a recommendation from another poster who suggested that someone try the M1 and Triton. They were sharing their opinion were they not? In any case you said of the M1 and the Triton plugins
So you didn't share an opinion you asked a question and I answered it. Then you got all defensive because I dared to share my opinion about what I consider a bad NIN ripoff.
