i got 4 hours of typing and battery went down 15%. If I extrapolate then that's over 20 hours of battery. Someone said I'd be happy with the battery life and 100% right. I'm quite satisfied with it!

I will probably buy another battery pack to charge my laptop for music though, atleast 80000mah with dc input to pair with my portable speaker so i can music anywhere outside. Looking forward to a long road trip. Cheers

That would be quite a lot. The usual figures I've seen in tests are around 17 hours on average (e.g. M3 MacBook Pro 14-inch). Even the latest Intel Lunar Lake (more energy efficient than its Meteor Lake predecessors) can't beat the best Apple and Qualcomm silicon laptops for battery life.

The screen brightness was about 15% admitedly and i could get away with it because it was at night. During the day I'd be less since i'd have the screen to about 50% brightness.

Just writing or also running a DAW with some plugins? Or edited a video etc? Sure, not 12h without a break ;) But maybe 1-2h where a bit more power is needed.

Just writing. i have another laptop for music, a dell. It gets burning hot with an i9 cpu, too hot, constantly, which drains the battery and always has the fan blarring even if I'm watching youtube or writing. it's too much lol. i think i get an 90 mins just typing on it. It costs $3500, lol. I dropped 450 on the M1. Huge difference. For music making, the dell is pretty good however, not amazing, but meh. i Don't think I'll ever drop more than $1500 on any computer in the future , not needed for how. I work, bouncing as I go.

set the background to just plain solid black, and turn down brightness to minimum and it really helps battery life.
also, "performance mode" isn't always necessary for CPU DAW work. on modern systems, "on demand" might be okay.
just my 2 cents
