Effectrix is pretty simple. Do you need to re pitch the loops or do anything else besides looping them? You could get Melda Rhythmizer on sale it's handy for looping and stuttering audio among other things.

The audio damage looper "enso" (I think) is probably the best fully featured looper out there in plugin form if you are wanting to loop longish pieces of sound. You can also use something like reaktor or pure data to make a looper to your own specifications. There are also some midi triggered loopers out there that are more straightforward than using a sequencer based Thing like effectrix or MRhythmizer. They will continue looping as long as you hold a note. Sugarbytes artillery is a good one. Once you get to wanting to loop a live input for longer than a bar or two the pickings get slim. You can set your DAW (depending on what you use) like a live looper pedal and then just work with the audio. I dunno. It really depends on what exactly you're trying to achieve.

wish there was a less expensive or free option.
instalooper 3 is now on sale for €40....instead of €85. Seems more reasonable.
