I went to the Thomann website and the Jupiter X has a price of 2149 euros instead of 2299 euros.

a price drop of 150 euros.

Is this the end of production of the Jupiter X and therefore liquidation of stock?

Post

I doubt it, jupiterX hasn't been out that long. More likely just a sale for some reason, likely to try and shift some units because they don't sell very well? They're horrendously overpriced already. Sales happen randomly it seems - here I've seen Korg MinilogueXDs on sale lately for $999 when they're usually $1200 and I'm not aware Minilogues are going out of production.

That isn't that big of a "discount".
Roland was an "A" stock in the past (meaning the dealer wholesale/flooring was 50% of that plus their usual shipping of 10%).
Generally, EOL pricing starts with "B" stocking where unsold units get shipped back to the manufacturer. Discounts reflected then go to 30%-75% to move them out as fast as they can in preparation for the next market.

Thank you for your answers.

So, no reason to worry then?

Would that just be a discount from Thomann at worst to sell too much stock and nothing else?

I've seen it discounted far more in the US. I wasn't surprised. I would never buy it.

Thank you for your answers.

Why weren't you surprised?

Why no purchase?

Post

I'm also not surprised, but I would possibly buy it...for $50. :P

Apparently not a fan of the Jupiter X :)

What do you blame him for?

Not sure how they do it now, but if it's anything like it was, it has to do with flooring. A certain amount of time to have in stock before the dealer actually has to pay. The race is to sell the stock before that comes due.

No, as a controller that hosts VSTs it's great and if you want that it is probably worth a good $700-$800. I played with a JUNO-X and it did the Roland sound well, or at least a digital, cleaned-up copy of the Roland sound. All of these digital synths will continue to go down in value because they have yesterday's technology with emulations of decades-old analog sound sources - or just the most popular, well-known analog sound sources.
