Q. Is there a quick way to transpose a whole track (i.e. all the phrases in the track) up or down by 1 or more than one octave?
With these great new automatically generated chord tracks, ultimately exported as MIDI, it can be important to set the octave correctly as needed on the receiving end.

I think the little menu that's been implemented here offers great flexibility for the future if/when needed.
Along with 'Create composition from progressions', I suggest an option to 'Append to Composition'.

Separately -
I'm observing a failure to analyze chords in the MIDI import process.
IOW, an incoming file that definitely has multiple different chords in it is being analyzed and imported as nothing but C chords in the Master Track.
I think the file is a pretty normal file, but I attach it just in case.

Yes indeed, another simple little thing needed is the ability to open the OS file explorer were a composition is residing.
I am thinking the current composition loaded, maybe in the file save/open menu..

Good catch, BluGenes, thank you!BluGenes wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2024 5:43 pm had a GP crash from XML.. this time I have the composition and XML for ya.. hehe.. I did it! I saved it! lol.. so happy..
Was looking to see if the XML shows up as a multi voice track in GP, but, haven't got there yet..
GP8 crashes because there are invalid string and fret numbers in the XML, for the last few notes where RC could not find suitable string/fret for the notes. I am investigating why; this must be fixed because as far as I can tell, the notes are playable on a 6-string standard tuning guitar.
BTW this is a beautiful fingerpicking pattern! If you have more such files, I'd love to look at them and improve the Fingerpicking Generator to use more notes to make more complex patterns.
Thanks,
Attila

OK, I found, what is wrong with your guitar phrase, BluGenes: there is a point of time when the polyphony is 7. When zooming into the notes I found this:musicdevelopments wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 10:56 amGood catch, BluGenes, thank you!BluGenes wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2024 5:43 pm had a GP crash from XML.. this time I have the composition and XML for ya.. hehe.. RC won't find a string/fret for the B3 note, so conversion stops. I don't know how this should be handled. Probably the C#4 note must be made shorter, however I did not want this to be a destructive process.
When the note was shortened manually, the guitar tab is fully created:

I made sure that no invalid strings/frets are written to the XML file, so that GP8 crashes.

Update: I received a license for Guitar Pro 8. Arobas Music is another nice company
There is still something wrong with the XML file RC creates for this guitar phrase. I will have a fix shortly, hopefully.

Ok, that midi was actually from Ample Sounds VST, they do that on purpose sometimes because of how it's played in their VST. I think it's mentioned in the docs about this, too. I just changed the instrument when I posted that so that you could use it without the VST. Still sounds ok with out the VST, I think..
I think in their VST, an overlap like that triggers a pull off or hammer on..

Hi Attila. Maybe you can explain to me what is going on.. Inside DP 11.32, when I drag a midi file onto the master track of the RC plugin for a new progression, two problems arise.. 1. Or I drag a midi file onto the master track and release the mouse, then the new progression just disappears, does not stay on the master track (This is mainly in the standalone program). 2. Or the plugin has problems with long midi files.. When dragging a midi file onto the master track, a warning appears..... And DP hangs and does not respond to anything.

Hi.
RC crashes when one attempts to drag more than a few MusicXML files into the Progression tab of the browser.
(For one file, or just a few, the process seems to work quite well!)
Please PM me if you need a directory full of MusicXML files to test with.
Thanks!

BTW, .mid files which are properly analyzed for harmony and seem to come in fine when dragged to the Progression tab of the browser are turning out not to analyze for harmony when dragged onto the Master Track.
So, whatever is being done for the harmony analysis when .mid is dropped on the Progression tab of the browser seems like it could be cribbed (at least conceptually) for the drop on Master Track case as well.
