I wasn't done adding information. :D Then, KVR did some weird double-posting thing, and things looked messed up. I wasn't planning on you seeing it without all of the information added. :D
No prob. I get the hint :)

 Hehehe....

There is one thing about class compliance that you might not know... With Linux, class compliant software usually means a full round trip latency of around 5ms. ASIO4ALL can't achieve those speeds. Linux is a lot like MacOS when it comes to class compliant audio interfaces. It's the general rule, rather than the exception to it. :)

That said, I could go on and on about the problems and faults of Linux as well. All OSes have their share of problems. I just generally find that most people have only heard the bad about Linux, rather than the good.
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

bulevardi wrote: Tue Oct 08, 2024 8:54 pmBut can't I just freely use GR without the obligation to support a 3rd party product I'm not interested in?
In the case of GR7 - no you cannot. There is price for admission - for GR and for every other cool VST you might be interested in. You can either pay that price and join the party or sit on the sidelines until you are ready to do that.
Yes you can, because I did, and many others do.
I can run many VST's under Linux (via Wine), without supporting a 3rd party product.
I just installed Overloud TH-U's demo this morning, works incredibly well under Linux (via Wine).
And Overloud has no swelling RAM and excessing CPU problem on my system. It runs fast and lightweight.

If you really believe that you cannot, just try it and you'll see for yourself that it works.

Enjoy. And no - I will not be trying anything on Linux.

Just to let you know: I meanwhile fixed the blue screen.
It happened due to a compatible PCIe wifi card from a spare pc that I installed on my current motherboard. (the spare pc previously ran on Windows btw)

It works perfectly as it should (on Linux) already half a year.
But apparently, after exceptionally booting into Windows once recently, it seems Microsoft doesn't support it and got into blue screen mode, without telling the user what the problem was, just showing a meaningless error you just have to guess.
Without the card it just runs again. Now tell me which system is more hardware compatible/supportive?

Then stop telling others that Linux isn't a good choice, if you don't have any experience with it at all, or not even want to try.

Oh - I have plenty of experience with Linux and it is not a good choice - not even a choice at all - for anything from Native Instruments.

I think that has more to do with Native Instruments than with Linux.

Apart from Linux, the NI community forum is bulging with issues. (yes, those 99% Win/Mac users) You can't blame their problems to Linux....
Watching the other user's threads, their support is not responsive at all to give solutions. If I knew beforehand that it's this buggy... I'd better did a bit more research about that beforehand.

I never had this experience with any other company, where support is minimal and a product is decently tested before it's sold.

You are entitled to your opinion and it's valid. But no one is "blaming" anything on Linux.

And who said anything (or cares) about what "issues" are "bulging" from anyone else.

Your experience is your experience. I have no issues with my NI stuff whatsoever.

So please do not attempt to paint us all with the same brush.

Is there a comparison chart for all versions of Komplete 15 vs Komplete 12?

Post

Maybe it will be on sale in the Ni summer sale?
Since it was too new for the Black Friday sale.

I wanted to buy Session Percussionist and it notifies me that I will get the other library called Rudiments for free if I add it on the cart, however, when I do, it does not apply any discounts. Any idea what's going on?

I just tried and in the basket it shows them both for $49.50, so it worked.
