Someone pointed out on Reddit that Andy Huang's video for Roli Airwave shows an Equator2 update with "a mod section tab called “Custom CC” which I hope lets you [set curves for] (probably 5) assignable CC controller numbers [like you can for the MPE parameters]. And a new set of 5 extra LFOs and 5 extra Math modules."

I'm really confused about the price for upgrading to Equator 2 from Equator 1 (I own a Seaboard RISE 39 and Equator 1). Are the following statements true?
1) regular price for Equator 2 to buy outright is $249 ?
2) normal upgrade price if you own Equator 1 is $149 ?
3) Black Friday sale price if you own Equator 1 is $89 ?
Or is the normal upgrade price always $89 ?
Thank you!

Did they ever get equator to be more CPU friendly? I got it with my seaboard and it was great but was kind of over the top for a relatively straightforward synth. I

For User Multisamples, using sounds in sfz format works without any problems. The important thing is to use the simple SFZ format where root and high -low note are described with midi note number.
Loop points must be indicated in .wav files
Here is a simple example.
<control>
<global>
<group>
<region> sample=SURPUJC2.wav lokey=0 hikey=36 pitch_keycenter=36 loop_mode=loop_continuous
<region> sample=SURPUJC3.wav lokey=37 hikey=48 pitch_keycenter=48 loop_mode=loop_continuous
<region> sample=SURPUJC4.wav lokey=49 hikey=60 pitch_keycenter=60 loop_mode=loop_continuous
<region> sample=SURPUJC5.wav lokey=61 hikey=108 pitch_keycenter=72 loop_mode=loop_continuous

1) that's something from the future (he has something that hasn't seen release)Ou_Tis wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 7:49 pm Equator2 update with "a mod section tab called “Custom CC”

I posted this on the ROLI group on Reddit but this forum might be a better target for informed users so I'm reposting it here. BTW, I'm not using ROLI hardware.

"Equator 2.5.1 - remote preset navigation on macOS"
I've been playing with Equator 2 since November 2024. It's a great synth with a massive amount of possibilities. But I'm having some issues with remote preset navigation. I'm on macOS 15.3, FWIW.
Here are some observations:
1. The standalone Equator 2 application/AU both respond to MIDI PC but in unexpected ways.
- Any MIDI PC triggers a step through a playlist (PC numbers seem arbitrary, unimportant);
- Sometimes a PC will trigger the next preset in the list, sometimes it will trigger the previous one;
- Sometimes only the first and last preset in a playlist will be selected despite sending PC#00-04 (the extent of my testing) consecutively;
-MIDI MSB/LSB have no bearing on preset selection.
2. The VST3 version does not respond to MIDI PCs at all.
The only way I can control preset selection reliably within Equator 2 is by setting up a playlist of desired presets and using the up/down arrow keys on my computer's keyboard to navigate. This seems rather poorly thought out on the developer's part, no?
This software instrument costs USD $250, so I expect more. Even Surge XT (free) has a usable preset management system. Does anybody have any points of assistance on this vexing issue? Am I missing something? Thanks.

The way I get round it is to use it in Komplete Kontrol (there is a version with all presets saved to NKS)

Thanks for the tip. Is Komplete Kontrol friendlier for preset selection? I had a look around and found the NKS tags for Equator2 on the NI forum but at first glance it doesn’t seem to me that KK has a better way of selecting presets than the up/down keys in the Equator2 GUI.aMUSEd wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 3:03 pm The way I get round it is to use it in Komplete Kontrol (there is a version with all presets saved to NKS)

It's a better way or organising sounds, with previews and tags, and if you have a S series keyboard you do get preset browsing via the keyboardVaultnaemsae wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 4:59 pmThanks for the tip. It's good to know this, but I don't have an NI controller.
Ideally, I'd just like a way to select presets reliably, preferably via MIDI PC, but I'd even take a prev/next via MIDI CC...just something "standard" to get the job done. There's probably a way to do a MIDI transform to keyboard commands if I dig deep enough, but it seems kind of daft for a $250 flagship synth.
I'm guessing that ROLI hardware might make this possible too.

You don’t necessarily need one, you can map all the main functions to most MIDI controllers with knobs and that includes the previous/next buttons

You can map automatable parameters to macros in KK (or any old DAW) but:aMUSEd wrote: Mon Mar 31, 2025 5:57 pm You don’t necessarily need one, you can map all the main functions to most MIDI controllers with knobs and that includes the previous/next buttons
- The previous/next buttons are not mappable in Equator 2.
- Komplete Kontrol does not have previous/next buttons.
So we've returned to the disturbing reality that this synth has no effective native preset management system.
