Thing is built like a tank. (Could actually be built from a tank...)

It's a ridiculously dirty sounding thing. It always sounds like it's in a bad mood.
This is the best part :)
kraster wrote: Sat Oct 05, 2024 10:19 am Will be interesting to compare because I can't imagine any synth company being brave enough to present it like it actually sounds.
I can see Cherry do it. PS-20 is deliciously raunchy and dirty. I love it a lot actually, way better than other MS-20 emus I tried.

It was supposed to be but all the demos of it sounded way, way more clean and polished than I would expect from the world's angriest analog synth.

Sawer does sound pretty good for a 14 year old synth though.

Love it.

Trying the Atomika demo and my first impression is.....Meh. Another synth that should have been left to rust on the junk heap of history.

The good thing is it's one more step towards Cherry Audio running out of rusty old synths to replicate so eventually they may be forced to move on to something less generic..... :tu:

EDIT:Ok I've spent more time with the demo but my opinion has not changed. I find the core sound unpleasant and grating.

But I realize others will disagree so if you like it buy it, buy two, buy a dozen and give me one. Go for it.

I fully understand why Cherry Audio makes these tributes since I'm sure they sell like hot cakes. If it were my company I'd be doing exactly the same thing.

They absolutely nailed it with this one. No need to maintenance those old plastic cases anymore; we have finally reached analog - vst - singularity. :borg:

This is exactly what I was hoping for and the price is great. It sounds excellent, just brutally gnarly and aggressive. Very happy.

Fair enough that you don't like it, but I have to wonder what you were expecting from a Polivoks emulation? It's an angry, aggressive synth.

Even the init patch sounds like it's ready to go outside to have a few words.

I demoed the first half-a-dozen patches, making sure to turn the AMP Drive up to maximum, and...

... oh, my goodness! I nearly wet myself. It sounds so, so gnarly! I'd lost interest in Cherry Audios stuff but this is definitely worth having. One interesting thing is that you can just use it in demo mode, that little burst of noise every now and then doesn't sound out of place at all. But I did buy a license anyway. It will sit very nicely with Schwa Olga and Proclethya in my collection.

I am loving the sounds in that video of the hardware recreation, too. If I can get some of those sounds outta this, I'll be well pleased.

Love this synth. Raw tones and it sounds alive. How does Cherry spit these out so fast? This sounds great.
