Oh, yeah, I did love the Rolands back then, too. That's very cool! It's about a year ago that we finally moved to a perfect little house and I unpacked 30+ year old stuff we were dragging along for all this time. Among that stuff was an Alpha Uno and my old Fostex 480 with a bunch of tapes. AND my old Amiga 1200. Man, I used to love that stuff so much. Nowadays it's like... eh... maybe I'll keep it until I can make a museum or so, hahaha. I still have my Korg M1, though, but it's sort of broken, like all my keyboards for some reason. One day I'll try to repair the stuff.
On the Amiga I last used OctaMED, drawing my samples. I made a ton of "minimods" with it, which was like a daily-sketch type of thing for me then. So we're looking at quite some overlaps there, hehehe, neat! :D

But, yeah, I think there are some wonderful days ahead and hope you'll embrace the challenge to rekindle that magical joy to design sounds again.

My C=64 dies when the power supply internally shortcircuited and blew the motherboard. No chance of repairing it sadly. I still have my matrix printer, floppy disk drive and all the bits and pieces to make it work, just no computer :-(

I even had one of those piano keyboard overlays ... ah, dedication!

Waaaahhh! ...how's that even happening. I actually had a C128, but with the "Final Cartridge" I was always in C64 mode. My floppy drive was kinda screwed up and I always had to manually and carefully press down on the bit of the floppy that was still exposed in order to let it read properly, hahaha. Wild times.
And you even had a printer? Wow... ...makes me wonder what my first printer was. Pfff. Loud things.
I do remember a little gimmick that would use the floppy drives motor to play melodies. And that makes me wonder how much that had destroyed it?! :ud:

Still have my bright red Dutch "Power Cartridge". Naughty, but nice!

I was a long time C64 user and moved to a C128 late high school into college. The power wasn't really reliable at my house in those days and we blew the C64 I don't know how many times with brownouts. The C128 is probably still in storage somewhere at my parents' house untouched for several decades.

Ah, the M1. "Piano 16", THE sound of house. My high school had one of these. I took every opportunity to get to that thing. Alas, that was also when I found out that the electric guitar players were more popular, so I made the switch and found out that electric guitars are pretty damn fun to play too, so after a few years of genre switch to jazz piano, the electric rock guitar was my primary instrument for the next 20 years. Now, much later, I am beginning to return to my synth origins.

Most of my piano noodling over in the last many years have been jazz inprovisation, so it was great fun for me to go to the complete opposite end of the spectrum and see how simple a tune I could get a way with in the September entry (the Bear dance thing). I deliberately went for a one-note riff just to spite the jazz.
I will also submit a track for October that is basically a one-chord f-minor groove. It turns out, you can get a lot out of a single chord if you just put your variation elsewhere.

Paddling away, heheheh! :hihi: ...why not?! My current experiment "Sixy" for October is basically paddling in a more traditional way, but paddling no less. ;)

Done voting, good luck everyone!

Soundcloud having troubles? Or are they just changing stuff right now?

Post

Have I missed something to cause half the tracks to be removed/errored?

Post

Half? Good, then it's clearly just a massive maintenance action over at soundcloud. They'll come back. :phew:

Soundcloud issues look to be sorted now so I was able to finish voting this afternoon. In the whole, I feel like the entries were even stronger this month than last month. Great work, everyone!

The only track I gave a "1" to is "MilksterX - What is dub". It was removed before I could listen to it and I'm worried that if I don't assign it any score then none of my other votes will count. No offense meant to MilksterX, though.
