This is not the thread to discuss this, so I'll just say something quick, and if you have more questions or comments, you can PM me. :) I recommend not trying to use Flatpaks with your DAW and plugins --use the regular version of your DAW. Also, I was almost certain that XWayland came installed by default--I'll have to double-check that. Other than that, you are in good hands with Fedora. :)

Best wishes!

Only Ableton to go. After that, every mainline DAW that supports multiple plugin types will support CLAP.

That in itself is a huge success!! :)

And to think, some people (Steinberg and Avid users) vehemently insisted CLAP would never catch on.

It now appears that many of the other major DAWs (which don't impose their own proprietary plugin format) already now have support for the open source audio plugin format. Bitwig, FL Studio, Reaper, Studio One ... who will be next, Ableton Live? ... Surely by then, CLAP is all but rubber-stamped as the new way forward for third-party plugin developers?

Most of the plugins I use in new projects are now CLAP format. Those being, all of Fabfilter's plugins and most of (soon-to-be-all of) u-he plugins. I only really need Kilohearts to also support this format and most of the VST/VST3 plugins that I regularly use, will dwindle to a minority share of plugins for my new projects.

That's not bad going for the CLAP format, already at this still-relatively-early stage within it's inevitable path towards becoming the primary audio plugin standard for most DAW users in the years to come.

VST's days are numbered (just kidding). But for certain, the importance of those proprietary formats for most DAW users, are going to become less and less significant with each passing day (and new CLAP release). :D

It'll be cemented in once JUCE 9 CLAP support is realised and that'll be adopted as a consequence. Then I suppose that means Native Instruments, Korg, maaaaaaybe MeldaProduction, remain?

The Studio One CLAP implementation is nearly unusable. I don't know how they managed to screw this up so bad. Some plugins, like Surge XT cause S1 to crash a soon as you attempt to add the plugin. Same for all the FullBucket plugins. Airwindows Consolidated loads and does not crash, but does not process audio. All the U-he instruments load, but as soon as you play a note, S1 crashes. TAL instruments seem to work, except for a couple of them all S1 controls in the plugin window header are invisible.

There is certainly some work to be done on the CLAP implementation on Studio One 7.
As for SurgeXT, I have SurgeXT 1.3.4.f7b97c6 CLAP running fine.
SOME of the Airwindows consolidated were not working, I believe that that may now have been fixed at the Airwindows end.
My Fullbucket CLAP synths load but do not work in SO7 and SO7 puts up a Save and Restart notice when I load them.
SO7 is not seeing my Fullbucket FX at all.
I've reported to both Fullbucket and Presonus.
Currently Fullbucket don't have SO7 to test with. :(

An initial problem I was having with ALL CLAP synths in SO7 eventually turned out to be caused by my Sensel Morph in MPE Mode.
With that unplugged, all my other CLAP synths came to life ... Only the brilliant Fullbucket plugins having a problem with CLAP in SO7.
Fullbucket CLAPs all fine in Bitwig and Reaper.
Fullbucket VST3s no problem.

So all I have is the 1 Uhe diva in clap I use hive a lot too but I don’t think I have it in clap maybe it isn’t out in clap yet but this is not my experience on Mac. I’m using diva a lot. This is coming from someone who left studio one because diva was crashing it a ton in version 6 so I feel your pain.

Hive also now has a CLAP release.

Most u-he synths and effects were recently updated. The majority of which have also been updated to include CLAP support.

I just asked Presonus support if they would offer me a test version of SO7.

I have just received developer's licence for Studio One 7 - thanks a lot, Presonus! :tu:

With the new version 7.0.1 for Windows my CLAP plug-ins are loading and making noise. :hyper: Mac and in-depth test will follow. I also asked Presonus if they would report any errors in my CLAPs - I have been known to make mistakes myself. :hihi:

Cheers, Björn

I did some quick testing on 7.0.1 on Mac, and found:
Full Bucket plugins are now working.
U-He plugins no longer crash Studio One when I start playing notes.
TAL plugins still have a blank header on the plugin window, but otherwise function.
Surge XT still crashes Studio One.

So some progress.
