change request: duplicate the layer panning control knob from ALL LAYERS panel view
to the individual LAYER [X] panel views, too.
(I'm not 100% clear on what the STRETCH & SIZE knobs do on the LAYER [X] view, the manual doesn't say. But if they relate to the stretch algorithm, could they be moved below?)
By no means a critical thing, but it would speed up editing/sound design if the knob was available right where you're making other tweaks.
thanks,
peace.

Patrick,
Please consider adding the granular section in G-Verb to TAL Sampler.
Thanks.

Does TAL Sampler read embeded loop information from wav samples?
I was experimenting with Endless Wav by Björn Bojahr https://www.bjoernbojahr.de/endlesswav.html
which is a neat tool to set loops and mangle samples to loop seamless.
TAL Sampler seems not to read the embeded points though.
Am I doing something wrong or is it just like that?

may not be related but,
google "wavosaur audio editor". its free.
I use it to set loop points. Tal sampler reads them fine.

Hello Chibchan,
thank you for your answer, surely related.
I tried to use Wavosaur as well.
Maybe something wrong on my side. Will try again next weekende and report.
I just wanted to use endless wav as it uses some kind of loop "synthezising".
So it´s sure, TAL-Sampler reads the embeded loop points, at least from out of wavosaur.
Thank you very much, that helps a lot.

FEATURE REQUEST: While working in the "detail view" of one of the four layers, I would like to have the ability to toggle VOLUME on/off. By default VOLUME is red with a value of unity. How about implementing "LMB click" to toggle VOLUME on/off: when off background turns grey but retains the numeric value. I realize I can just drag it down to zero, but then I lose it's previous setting (typically not unity if more than one layer is active).

Now, latest version for Windows and Mac, Endless Wav by Björn Bojahr has a new feature available in its preferences. Activate 'Write SMPL / INST before DATA'. Maybe worth a try, and TAL Sampler will recognize the embedded WAV Loop data this way.

Boah, I did not know it was updated and still used an old version that didn´t even scale up to my HD screen.
Thank you so much for that hint.
Will give it a try next weekend (sadly no time befor that).

I find it very cool how TAL Sampler even allows to reproduce how the Nintendo DS sounded. By tweaking its resampling settings, we can get sounds very close to DS games. I even went further and sampled some original instruments Pokemon Black and White used (PlugSound Pro Accoustic Piano and SampleTank String Orchestra) and played a song from the games and it sounds very accurate.
You can hear how it sounds here https://soundcloud.com/seledreams/unwav ... c20ca27118
It's playing "Unwavering Emotions" from Pokemon black and white

How should I pre-process my audio clip for *artifact-free* time stretching; with each of the modes: CYCLIC and INTELL. I don't need to know what the algo its doing specifically, just how to pre-process my clips for success. For instance, should the audio clip be modified so the cycles are sample-accurate the closest piano note (essentially a wave table)? I'm sure there were some implicit assumptions about the audio clip when the two modes were designed and tested. Thanks in advance.

The key to getting modern, pristine sample playback quality is to not rely on TAL-Sampler’s pitching and stretching algorithms. If you map a sample for every key, and use outside algorithms (from different tools) for any stretching or pitching, then TAL-Sampler will be able to play it back and it will sound perfect. That is the only way I know of that you can play back a multisampled instrument on TAl-Sampler, and have it sound perfect.pummel wrote: Sat Aug 09, 2025 3:39 pm How should I pre-process my audio clip for *artifact-free* time stretching; with each of the modes: CYCLIC and INTELL. TL;DR: bypass TAL-Sampler’s pitching and stretching algorithms.

@audiojunkie => Yes, that is definitely a viable option! And in doing so, I could place the file set into a folder reference as <bigSound>.sfz; then use it as a single sound source. In fact, I've already done so as an experiment -- 3 notes per octave, four velocity layers. While this works very well, it is inconsistent with my goal (which I failed to mention).
My goal is this: I want to make a free sound set that is small enough in disk space so Patrick can host it in his "free" section without downloads killing his bandwidth. So, to that end I want to use short (1 to 2 second) <audioClip>.flac files -- one per layer using all four layers.
I'd like to augment goal sound design with real time TAL sampler stretch mode, but only if it can be done cleanly using CYCLE or INTELL.
