Hi.

Thank you for RC 5.4b3 !

So far, the reported features/fixes are working well here.

One important thing has gone missing though ...

In the previous version we were able to drag a multi-selection of phrases onto Live and have each one arrive as it's own clip. This no longer works.

It makes sense when dragging out MIDI from the track header for the entire track to arrive as one concatenated animal. However, after doing a multi-selection of phrases inside the track, these should come out as a set of .mid files (when Ctrl-Shift-Alt-dragged to an OS directory), and this will cause them to arrive in Live as individual clips when dragged directly there as well. This is how the prior version worked, and perfectly so.

Equivalent structural Part/Line creation functionality is much to be desired when we do 'Create composition from progressions'.

I'll add) The phrase is not dragged as a midi file with its own name, the whole track - yes!

I am afraid this never worked like that. When dragging selected phrases as MIDI, they were placed in a single track, never separately.

Ah,OK. Sorry for mis-remembering.

This is what I was remembering (p67):

New export option: "Export phrases from selected track as MIDI...". Each phrase is written to its own MIDI file which is named according to the phrase name.

I remembered getting the result (because I was thrilled to have it), but not the path taken to get it!

A minor point to be sure, but I would suggest adding "Export phrases from selected track as MIDI..." to the Track menu.

And if it is reasonably possible to arrange for a direct drag-and-drop onto Live that would be just absolutely ideal, IMO.

But I am not cryin' - the way it now works represents a new and very welcome high in interoperability! Thanks very much for this.

I observe that the current method is not propagating each individual progression name thru to the Track names of the exported .mid files.

The file names are correct -

rc - Files Named Per Progression - Good.jpg

But the inside track names are all being written the same, as shown when the set of .mid files is dragged into Live:

and confirmed by examining in GNMIDI:

Likewise for Ctrl-Shift-Alt drag out of a single Phrase as MIDI. The RC Track Name is being used instead of the Phrase Name.

For some future day perhaps when you are feeling the need for a very aggravating challenge (right!): 2nd endings and Coda in imported MusicXML.

Hi. I suggest making a small menu for the master track, which in Scaler 2 is called the Shaper Chord Menu. It allows you to instantly transform the master track chords from triads into 7/9/11/13 types of chords and vice versa from any type to any. This is very convenient, for example, instantly make a jazz chord from simple triad chords or vice versa simplify them into triads or just 7. Perhaps this menu could be located in the master track inspector. Thank you.

Good idea! Transformations of that sort are definitely very convenient to have.

Hey.. I think when using this dialog that the next and previous shown should have those buttons assigned to the keyboard left and right arrows... (I never looked to see if there was already a shortcut, so, maybe we can do that already! lol..) But in any case, that should be set up like that if it's not..
