Massive X 1.6.1 update (September 2025)!

MX is definitely staying as its own thing DSP-wise. Or to put it another way, MX DSP is not (and can not, for certain reasons) going to find its way inside Kontakt.

Thanks for this better informed input. I was hoping that Simon would clarify this possibility within the NI Community Update thread, but there was a defined period of keeping that thread open.EvilDragon wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 4:42 pm MX is definitely staying as its own thing DSP-wise. So based on your expertise, guess I'll set aside this notion.
But still will be fun to see where true synth-based instruments within Kontakt will go. And they will have modern scalable UI's and direct integration with Kontrol S3 keyboards!

is it true that it was prototyped in Reaktor?EvilDragon wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 4:42 pm MX is definitely staying as its own thing DSP-wise. Or to put it another way, MX DSP is not (and can not, for certain reasons) going to find its way inside Kontakt.
is it a Reaktor child?

Kontakt for samples, Reaktor for synths. Seems simple enough.seangm wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 4:24 pm Eh, a bloated Kontakt isn't something I'm looking forward to. Keeping the synth stuff under Reaktor and developing that would be my preference.

Further thought.. with others declaring that there are no plans to bring direct integration of Massive X to the Kontrol S3 keyboards, I guess that leaves Komplete 3 to be the method of somewhat achieving this.EvilDragon wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 4:42 pm MX is definitely staying as its own thing DSP-wise. Hope Komplete 3 gets more attention soon for the sake of Massive X.

Nope. Reaktor isn't being further developed - they said that years ago. And they've now said even Battery is ultimately going to be migrated to Kontakt (but not before an update). So:
Kontakt for everything. Except Massive X.

Yes. So was original Massive. Mike Daliot prototypes everything in Reaktor.martiu wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 4:51 pm Is it true that it was prototyped in Reaktor?

100% correct.martiu wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 12:11 pmyou dont need wavetable import, the synth is very complex as it is alreadyVELLTONE MUSIC wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 9:57 am X is one of (if not) the best sounding synths ever, but no wt import ,no interest here.
Is there plans for upgrading this, will make it buy now for a lot of producers...?

Ok,but why factory wt do not grow, why 170 but not 1700?EvilDragon wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:05 am No news on that front.
I would say to all producers: first try to have fun with 170 factory wavetables and all the wavetable mangling modes (which all do extremely interesting things, in many cases unavailable in any other synth) before exhausting sonic palette that they offer.![]()
I don't think there will b enough wt for demanding users ...
Back in early 90s if remember correctly prediction about hdd was that nobody will need more than 40gb hdd and bigger drives are waste of space and money...well it seems that was wrong...same with number of wt

this synth has such a sound manipulation options that you can have complex sounds only with sinewaves, try running out of options only using sines, it will take a while, with 170 wavetables there is infinite amount of combinations and diversity of sounds that can be achieved

I agree. WT import is unnecessary, IMO.martiu wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 8:05 pm this synth has such a sound manipulation options that you can have complex sounds only with sinewaves, try running out of options only using sines, it will take a while, with 170 wavetables there is infinite amount of combinations and diversity of sounds that can be achieved

Because there is already a myriad of wavetable readout options in MX that makes your 170 wavetables become 10000 in practice. Add to that dual phase modulation oscillators, feedback routing, and you really don't need more wavetables in realityVELLTONE MUSIC wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 7:58 pmOk,but why factory wt do not grow, why 170 but not 1700?

No one needs 1,700 wavetable variations of mediocrity. It’s really not about how many wavetables you can cram into a synth, it’s about how well you use the ones that are already there. We get it... you'd rather wade through an ocean of wavetables than actually learn how to master the synth. Focus on skill over stockpiling.VELLTONE MUSIC wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 7:58 pmOk,but why factory wt do not grow, why 170 but not 1700?EvilDragon wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:05 am No news on that front.

But what really grinds my gears is that we still don’t have MIDI learn functionality. It’s ridiculous! Massive X is packed with insane potential, but the fact that not a single parameter is visible to the DAW (aside from the macros) makes it frustrating to use. Imagine owning the most advanced gadget with all the bells and whistles, yet no way to interact with it directly.
Among all the missteps in synth development, this has to be one of the biggest blunders in history. Even if they eventually fix it, this will always be the thing people remember!
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes - I know that. Simply saying what I think makes most sense.noiseboyuk wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 5:18 pmNope. Reaktor isn't being further developed - they said that years ago. And they've now said even Battery is ultimately going to be migrated to Kontakt (but not before an update). So:

What makes most sense is almost never done though.
Also - my post was in response to the person I quoted - seangm
