Year in Software 2024 (what you've bought in 2024)

A bunch of stuff but some of the standouts are moving to Bitwig ,Current and the rest of Minimal Audios stuff,Twin 3,Icarus 3 and probably my best purchase second to Bitwig-Spire. Unfortunately or fortunately,depending on how I look at it,I feel like I’ve run out of things I want although I’m thinking of getting Hy-Poly and something from U-he maybe

Thank you. I’ll add Avenger to that list as a standout since I re-purchased it this year. I’m liking it a lot more than I had before. Unfortunately,as we were talking about in the other thread,the performance issues I’m having with it are making it a bittersweet reunion

Yes, after years of absolutely loving it (well, the 2 much more than the 1), I started to have issues (I think you jinxed me haha).

Been really happy with my last few purchases: the Korg 2600, Waldorf Microwave, Synthmaster 3, Atomika, and Arturia Synthx.

Really like them all, all of them seemed to up their game and produce some quality machines.

At least to my ears, it seems we are getting better and better sounding software synths lately.

At least to my ears, it seems we are getting better and better sounding software synths lately.

I haven't tried the new Synthx yet, although from videos it looks pretty nice. But for now, it's off my radar: I used my budget for this year on completing a Steinberg setup. Maybe some time next year I'll check out the Arturia V collection and see if it's worth it for me. I already have a number of good synths, and I got Synclavier V alone awhile back since that was really all that interested me at the time, so I'm not in any rush.

I got last month's Computer Magazine software bundle, which included the original Go2, GForce Axxess, and RYM2612! My favorite software purchase in 2024 was the Icarus 3 upgrade, followed by getting Generate for $25 using an edu discount. As for FX, Sinevibes Integer is the only one I got so far. It is very interesting! I may get Studio One 7 later this year or next because I haven't bought an upgrade since Studio One 5 Artist.

I might upgrade either Presonus S1 to v7 or AB Live (Standard -> Suite) later this year, however, I don't have any GAS for anything else!

Move to MacBook Pro and iPad so I added Logic Pro to both (used to use it years ago)

Tons of new iPad stuff: Korg Gadget, wavestation, Sunrizer, pure acid, Drambo, Zeeon, miRack, spacecraft, FRMS, tardigrain, quanta, GeoShred, iVCS3, ID700, nerdsynth. And already had a bunch others from years ago.

On the plus side, all of these except Humanoid are getting a lot of use. I thought Humanoid was great when I tested it, but for whatever reason, it just never seems to work in practice.

I demo'd bx_Aura and really liked it. One of these days Plugin Alliance will include it in one of their deep discount offers, and I'll snap it up.

iPad sound design with fabfilter twin 3 is an absolute joy. If you don't have it, I strongly recommend it. It is a great great synth.

Synthmaster 2 is also compatible iPad, difficult to do more powerful than that (but less Intuitive than twin3)
