Thanks Blue Cat ! This is gonna be way cool 8)

OK - I've got it registered and in Sonar - the pro version decay only goes to 500ms while the free one goes to 1000ms.

Will the Pro version get bumped up ? Maybe you could make it go to 2000ms while you're at it for extra smoothing?

Thanks !

In Sonar4 the Pro version records all parameters instead of just the one I select. Since I haven't recorded effect automation before I assume I'm goofing up...Maybe I'll try the non-pro Peak Meter and try to record a single param there...

Quite interesting indeed; I have not yet endeavored into envelopes (using/recording/or anything for that matter) but I can certainly see the advantages and even more creative usage of this fine plug.

One question though; since all the talk is about recording the envelopes - how about realtime 'side-chaining'?

Ooops I'm dense - you record all the envelopes first then choose the one(s) you want to keep 2nd after recording them by selecting them in the 'create envelope' dialog. I think that's right anyway...

I have a couple of real-time side chain plugs Mystahr but things start to get messy when I track freeze (sonar4) or track lock (Cool edit/audition).

It's in work...

Hi Blue Cat - I'm testing this nice plug out now and I set my latency as low as possible to try and get the peaks to line up better. Does that sound correct or should I not have to worry about latency? Thanks

Post

OK - I'm getting it better now. It seems like the peaks need to be at least -25dBFS or thereabouts for the automation curve to be correct - is that about right? Thanks

Post

Ooops - Sonar4 just had a little fit:

AppName: sonarpdr.exe AppVer: 13.0.1.220 ModName: bluecatdpeakmeterpro.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.0 Offset: 0000a09b

I think I was using Cakewalk VST Adapter 4.4.2 and Sonar is v4.0.1. I had just written a left envelope and a right inverse envelope. I assigned the inverse envelope to a volume envelope in Sonar4. Then I reassigned it back to BC Peak Meter (a different param than had generated the envelope). I inserted digitalfishphones Block fish into the track and assigned the regular (L) envelope to Blockfish compression param. After playing some real nice vocals Sonar4 crashed about 2 minutes into the song.

That's the right way to work since output parameters update can only be done once a frame, due to the DirectX or VST architecture.

I am not sure I understand your point. Automation Curve is recordable from -60 dB up to 0 dB...

You seem to be a lucky one, you are the first issue reporter! :?
We'll try to reproduce your issue asap and will keep you informed.

The readme file says;

***************************************************
*** Blue Cat's VST plug-ins ***
*** http://software.bluecatonline.org ***
***************************************************

**WARNING:
We strongly advise you to download and use the MSI package for the plug-in installation on our website (http://software.bluecatonline.org).

However if you wish to install the VST plug-ins manually (at your own risks), the procedure is the following:

****************************************************
1. if you do not have Microsoft Runtime Librairies 7.1 installed, download them on http://software.bluecatonline.org
2. Copy Microsoft dlls to the system folder (follow instructions with the librairies)
3. Copy the plug-in dll to your VST folder

That's it.
****************************************************
What can happen if I don't use the MSI package?

How do I know if I have Runtime 7.1?

I really don't want to install anything because my system is running quit well at the moment, so I don't want to take any un-needed risks.

OK - I'm gettin it - just begginer ignorance I think trying to calibrate the tool. I think I was trying to make sure each node landed at the correct peak, hehe. I'll worry about that later - things are fine now after getting to know it a little better.

OK - let me know if you want me to try something - it only happened once so far and I'm past the point in my learning where I have to press every possible button to get Sonar to record the automation. :D

Thanks! This is a fun plug! I have it hooked up to Blockfish and Endorphin and Polysquasher now.
