macOS 15 Sequoia compatibility
I just installed the beta of the upcoming macOS Sequoia.
Icarus3 and the latest versions of all our other synthesizers are compatible with macOS Sequoia. They offer the highest possible performance with native M1/M2/M3 support.

Markus, you’re one of the most consistent developers at keeping your plug-ins compatible with the latest macOS. That can’t be easy, but damn is it impressive.Tone2 Synthesizers wrote: Tue Jul 23, 2024 10:10 am macOS 15 Sequoia compatibility

I’ve never coded a VST before, so I can only imagine the amount of time, discipline, and sleepless nights that go into creating a deep synth like Icarus 3. The logistics and organization alone seem mind-boggling to me.
Compared to companies with lots of employees and money for advertising, it really is astounding how you’re able to humbly and reliably accomplish that year after year, regardless of the changes that Apple is constantly making to their OS.
It proves to me that it can be done if a developer makes it a priority. And the effort is truly appreciated.

Thank you for the appreciation
It is indeed lots of work to keep the products always compatible with the latest macOS versions.

It was a huge amount of work in the past to add native M1 support, keeping AUs working, to add VST3 and HiDpi support.
Sequoia was not an issue for the plugins - at least not for us this time.
But we had serious trouble with the Safari Browser and the website. Safari freezed (and still freezes) with certain webm videos. It has also some glitches with alpha blending of images in css3 and backgrounds are blurry. We filled out a bug report during the beta, but Apple did not react on it. So the website had to be built around these bugs.

I had a phone call with a fellow dev some weeks ago. He and other companies had trouble with the product activation as Apple did change some stuff with the Mac Adresses.
So if you don't need to switch to Sequoia it might me wise to stick with your current macOS version.

It seems with all the $$ Apple has, they would have less problems and make it a bit easier for developers. But I guess it’s like they say: more money more problems.

there are so many variables, as not all 3rd-party plugins, apps... work the same way. so developers need to work with apple (or microsoft, etc) to sort out issues. it's not generally just apple or a specific developer (altho sometimes it is...)Examigan wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:09 pm It seems with all the $$ Apple has, they would have less problems and make it a bit easier for developers. I know you mean, but I mainly hear about issues with Macs and plugins made for them versus PCs.
