You probably won't need the awesome new effects anyway, so no problem.sokoleski wrote: Tue Oct 15, 2024 3:59 pm DAFUQ... didn't v.1 just come out..?

Actually, now I have downloaded and had a looksie I think it is OK value. The presets alone probably justify the price. Still feel it should have received some updates in between the release and this version as most plugins do.

This is actually a really good value for $29 upgrade price: 5 new modes, including a really cool Sidechain option, 500 new presets (not including some new per effect presets), 10 new effects - like Warp, Reverser, Looper, ... My first thought was, too soon, but this is like releasing a bunch of add-on sound / module packs. This one pushes Transit into multi-purpose MFX, way beyond transition FX.

I own the original transit. It gets used about once every other track as a fast way to build a sweep. Just downloaded and tinkered with the new version. Really nice stuff in here.
The addition of an envelope follower is something that's going to give it a lot more value for me. I find Bitwig's envelope follower to often be lacking in gain, the one built into Transit is way better.
Great release and price for existing owners. I admit it's a pretty painful outlay for many people new to the plugin.

I feel like calling the envelope and sidechain two different modes a little cheeky.
Most envelopes just have sidechain as a mode.
Petty grumbling aside I do feel the new modes and FX do bring a lot of value to the plugin.
The thing I liked about the OG transit is that it did really deliver on the promise of being a quick way to set up a whole chain of effects and have them automated. This just extends that functionality.
I feel like the upgrade price is just a little on the high side but not outrageously bad.

Can you give an example of how to use Finisher-Boost to emulate Transit?

It was a tongue in cheek-comment but they both offer 'auto transition FX'. Obviously transit offers more control (for better or worse). That an be good or bad. Sometimes simple is good. If you ask me though, Baby Audio was deliberate in pricing the intro price for this at the same price as UJAM Boost.

Damn, I'd love to figure out a good workflow with it. Same with Turnado and Infinite. Mainly, I just want the AIRA MX-1 effects in a plugin.

Imho(!) the key to a 'successful' transition is to see the process as something similar to a riser. You start with no FX and blend it in over time. This works with Turnado as well as with all other multi-fx (while Turnado is brilliant for it - that's why I did not see a demand for BA Transit for my needs).
On top of that: how often do you need a transition that relies on FX rather than composition? In EDM it's a regular thing (s. riser mentioned above) but even there too many FX-loaded transitions are boring/cheap as f*ck. That's 90s style. Nowadays, the subtle way is much more pleasing (2ct).

Yes, I'll admit that even the AIRA MX-1 effects get tired pretty quickly. Everything sounds the same. I get more varied results playing transition parts and running them through Finisher-Dynamo.

Baby Audio and Andrew Huang would probably argue that using Transit can help end users quickly and easily make more interesting, less cliched transitions. I don't do a lot of sweep transitions in general, but having used the tool in spots, I'd be sympathetic to that perspective.
For bog standard filter sweeps, the kinds you hear every 30 seconds in run-of-the-mill psytrance mixes, then a tool like Transit is overkill. But for multiple FX assignments on a single controller, the workflow is pretty hard to beat. Way more fun than tab diving in Infiltrator. And the extra modulators in v2 have definitely expanded its utility. Yes there are other ways to get the same results, but I don't have a plugin in my arsenal with this many options that's this easy to set up. Granted, I haven't touched Tornado in forever and a day, but I don't recall it having this many options or being this much fun to use.

The Bitwig envelope follower has a gain, rise, fall, and scale parameters to adjust it accordingly. Peak or RMS detection too. 99% of the time if a plug-in has an auto-envelope follower built into it, I replace it with the Bitwig envelope follower because it works better and is more adjustable. Also, 99%, you need to crank the gain parameter up in order to generate an envelope that is going to give you values of modulation to work with.billinder33 wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 12:56 am I find Bitwig's envelope follower to often be lacking in gain, the one built into Transit is way better.
The problem you may be encountering is envelope follower does not draw a graphic representation of the envelope as clearly in it's little window than say the audio side-chain modulator does. In envelope follower it's barely visible as a faded blue hidden behind the icon, where in audio-sidechain it's clearly visible as bright purple and unobstructed by an icon. They are basically the same thing, so you might want to whip up the audio-side chain to gain a better understanding of the envelope follower parameters I suspect you might not be entirely aware of that can be tweaked. (gain, rise, fall, amount)
Cheers
