Sandman Pro is by far my favorite delay. It does it all and does it well. I use H-delay and Substation for quick and dirty delays. I use the old waves multitap delay for very specific stuff. Valhalla delay is great but seems like it uses way more CPU than it should considering what it does.

The 42 is the exact reincarnation of the classic Lexicon PCM 42 delay. We preserved its original character and functionality, staying true to its roots.Fair enough the plugin is stereo architecture but you can’t do panning nor can you have separate L an R delay lines. So it takes stereo signal buy the effect is centred. I guess it’s intended to be used as the OG which is mono. If you need stereo effect from this baby you need to use 2 on return just like the OG
If you’re looking for alternatives, consider its younger yet more versatile sibling: PSP 285. It offers a vast range of delay-based effects, from simple slapbacks and echoes to intricate rhythmic patterns, and from authentic magnetic tape delay simulations to otherworldly pitch-shifting and resonant filtering effects—all with world-class audio quality.

V3 sounds good, but I also like the lofi character of the previous version. EHX with Vintage engaged is one of my favourite delays.Gam456 wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 1:21 pm Nomad Factory Echos 3
Simple tape and BBD delay, can sound really wide like Replika XT.
Sound great, oversampling, modern or vintage feedback.
For those that haven't got Echoes V3 yet, it's only 15 dollars till jan 19th.
Check the Panning menu. You know L/R offset in the Panning menu is set to 7.5 ms by default?Gam456 wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 1:21 pm At the moment Replika XT is my good to go
But in some case, it sound way to wide, an the BBD too noisy.
The Analogue mode has four BBD types. They're not all noisy, but on longer feedback settings they do get dirty, especially Dark and Grunge. These four certainly are not as smooth as the Memory Man.
Replika XT is the allround delay plugin I would choose if I could keep only one delay plugin.

Idk, but Sandman Pro is a CPU hog compared to Valhalla Delay over here...Ah_Dziz wrote: Sat Oct 19, 2024 5:38 pm Sandman Pro is by far my favorite delay. ... Valhalla delay is great but seems like it uses way more CPU than it should considering what it does.

Innocent question... having VarietyOfSound NastyDLA mkIII, Sixth Samples Deelay, Native Instruments Replika (not XT, the free one), and Valhalla Supermassive + FreqEcho, is there anything left to be covered regarding Delays?
EDIT: and let's add Ohmforce OhmBoyz, that became free some months ago

GSI VariSpeed is stunningly good for vintage tape echo sound. And it's free!mabian wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 10:43 am Innocent question... having VarietyOfSound NastyDLA mkIII, Sixth Samples Deelay, Native Instruments Replika (not XT, the free one), and Valhalla Supermassive + FreqEcho, is there anything left to be covered regarding Delays?

Limited controls (like the original device it was modelled after), but superior in sound to much more expensive tape echo emulations on the market.

Blue Cat Late Replies is the most powerful delay that I have come across - can make endless complex delays because it can host vst's within the signal path - including itself https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/P ... teReplies/mabian wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 10:43 am Innocent question... having VarietyOfSound NastyDLA mkIII, Sixth Samples Deelay, Native Instruments Replika (not XT, the free one), and Valhalla Supermassive + FreqEcho, is there anything left to be covered regarding Delays?

There definitely is, but to be honest it might not make a huge difference in your music depending on how you use delays. I'd say there are three ways other delays might differ from the ones you have: 1) different workflows, which may lead you to different results; 2) unique sound characteristics or emulations of delay units with certain sounds; 3) additional features, such as multitap, transient designers, different forms of distortion or bit reduction, envelope followers, etc.mabian wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 10:43 am Innocent question... having VarietyOfSound NastyDLA mkIII, Sixth Samples Deelay, Native Instruments Replika (not XT, the free one), and Valhalla Supermassive + FreqEcho, is there anything left to be covered regarding Delays?

I have a bunch of delays with unique features or sounds, but even though they allow me to get some very specific sounds I want, in reality a listener probably wouldn't feel any differently if I used a different one.
If you're looking to check out some other free ones in addition to the ones you have, I'd recommend Trailbender, Chow Matrix, Ripple Delay, and Spacer (by Spectral Plugins). All have some pretty unique features to them that at the very least make them worth trying out imo.

besides logics stock delays, at the moment i discover the ones inside guitar rig and like psyche delay so far... and for sound design experimentation often find inspiration in other desert cities, mostly in the mirage and cactus algo.

I've had the exact opposite experience (on Windows 10). Who knows? It's way less of an issue on newer hardware anyway. I got very used to SM pro and also love the mod system. I have and love all Sean's stuff but the delay is the least used plugin of them all. I think Ubermod and Supermassive are more fun.

On the NF site it is strangely enough, but you can buy it from resellers for 15.Gam456 wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 9:25 pmIt's $19Lotuz2019 wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 6:56 amV3 sounds good, but I also like the lofi character of the previous version.
