I'm not saying he's being deceptive just that, as someone who is both involved with the design and marketing, he is making the claims about what it is which is something that goes beyond being just a plugin for transitions.billinder33 wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 11:33 pmTBH, I don't care what Andrew Huang or any other marketer says. "Aim was to become the number one plugin for motion FX" could mean anything - features, units sold, revenue, #1 in his own heart? He doesn't claim this alleged "aim" was reached. It's just basic marketing-speak that would pass any legal review.kraster wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 4:30 pmBut they're distinctly pitching Transit 2 as more than just a transition effect and according to Andrew Huang's (bold) claims they want to be the number one plugin for multi effects with movement.billinder33 wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 2:35 pmIMO this is not a problem, but rather the entire point of the plugin. That you use with the intention of hooking all the FX parameters into a single macro knob or mod source, to build transitions and sweeps. It's in the name.Sampleconstruct wrote: Sat Oct 19, 2024 8:05 pm The main problem is that there is only one modulation source which can either be a Macro or an LFO or an envelope follower or a very basic sequencer.
He says it at one minute in this video. So even they don't think it's exclusively for transitions.
That claim is a tall order given the existence of shaper box and infiltrator or even things like Sugarbyte's various multi fx offerings.
Transit 2 is really good and definitely extends the first iteration's capabilities but in order to be considered the "Number one" plugin for motion FX they'll have to expand on the modulation a good deal more
I agree with him that it's evolved into more than just a transition effect. I don't think that's deceiving in any way. Like all plugins, it has strengths and weaknesses. He's not claiming it does something it doesn't.
IMO the most polarizing thing about this plugin is that it's attached to Andrew Huang. Take that away and people probably just see another modern but somewhat pricy sound design tool.
In order to compete with established animated/motion multi FX plugins like infiltrator and shaperbox is that Transit needs more well... motion. One master control is not going to cut it.
I think the basic system they have is excellent in how you define what's being modulated and how you determine the ranges. The quality of the individual modules is overall excellent.
As I said, I really liked Transit and Transit 2 is a definite step up but I just feel like all those excellent effects and the well implemented modulation system would really sing if it had a bit more depth to it on the modulation side.

One way you could do it without having too much menu diving or page flipping is to have a per effect slot modulation system that focuses the main modulation control to the selected effect slot.Uncle E wrote: Mon Oct 21, 2024 12:21 am Isn’t part of Baby Audio’s brand their great UI’s and quick results? Turning this into a modular playground would seem to go against that.

I think the idea started as a transition effect, but after some time they saw the potential to be used as a multi FX plugin and decided to develop it to be able to compete with plugins like Shaper Box, Turnado and Infiltrator.
A lot of good effects in it already, just modulations needed.

I don't think it needs to compete against Infiltrator or Shaperbox. Transit's single Mod/Macro knob approach just makes it easier to do certain things. Harder to do others. Au5 built a whole career on linking lots of parameters up to a single LFO in Serum.kraster wrote: Mon Oct 21, 2024 12:38 am In order to compete with established animated/motion multi FX plugins like infiltrator and shaperbox is that Transit needs more well... motion. One master control is not going to cut it.
IMO these tools address 3 separate use cases:
Shaperbox - great for basic build-from-scratch modulations - auto panning hats, ducking, pumping reverbs to a beat. Very easy to configure from init.
Infiltrator - great for deep-dive sound design, but that comes with the cost of being harder to configure. Lots of tab diving. For my use, it's more of a highly tweakable ROMpler than something I like to configure from init.
Transit - transition and sweep machine. And with the new mod options, I could see using it as a general multi-FX unit, since everything is conveniently on one page. With the envelope follower, it becomes like a more comprehensive multi-FX version of how I use Filterverse on audio sources today. That's something I wouldn't have fun configuring against multiple FX in Shaperbox or Infiltrator because you have to do it per effect.
In Bitwig you have lots of modulation options and I'm assuming (but haven't confirmed) that all Transit's params are exposed to your DAW. So DAW modulators should be an option if you started with a patch but then decided after doing some configuration that you needed additional, per effect modulation. Someone upthread was actually championing doing all modulations in Bitwig. Regardless, if I was starting with the intent of going miles deep into that kind of thing, I'd just reach for Infiltrator instead. But a bunch of different FX on an LFO or follower? Transit all day.
Bottom line here, most people use more than one compressor, reverb, delay, etc. so I don't see why we should expect one multi-effect plugin to be great for every use case. If Andrew Huang's video marketing blurbs were just text on the Baby Audio website instead, I doubt we'd even be discussing this. We'd be talking about 'why is it so expensive?'.

I'm digging Transit, just updated to Transit v2. Once they expand more into granular, I will be unstoppable.
How is v2 comparing to v1? You guys digging the new version?

Used it yesterday to sweep a verb/delay into the tail of a synth sound. A couple of days ago i hooked Bitwig's LFO onto the big knob to pump FX in rhythm into a plucky arpeggiated synth. It's very fast and easy for these kinds of things.
I've used the new envelope follower a few times as well.

hi, can you fix the macro control position recall when you load user presets, some of us want to use it as multi fx chain processor and every time opening user preset the macro is at 0% and that is very annoying
