I just don't understand the Royalties breakdown.

I got the Distrokid distributer and did a deep dive into what I've been paid. i realize all these streaming platforms have different royalty payments but what I found is that one song that had 65 plays got WAY more money than another song that had 145 plays. In fact, I got 4 whole cents for those 145 plays. I think there should be an industry standard for streaming plays. 4 CENTS! (Labeled: How not to get rich while trying way too hard)

As far as I can see there's no way the owner of a streaming site should earn more than the artists providing the material.
The penny in a pound should be the cut and quite sufficient for poncing off others work.

There isn't a standard, and streaming companies have the right to decide how to cover their own expenses our paid. A smaller streamer has less overhead than a large one, and so can afford to pay more. Tidal has a pretty good model, but not as many listeners. Spotify, I think everyone agrees, has the lowest payout of any--although Apple isn't far behind, I think--but has millions of listeners. And Spotify offers its subscribers a lot more than Amazon or Deezer in terms of services, ticket discounts, merchandise, etc. I've found Spotify does a lot more promotion of my material versus other streamers, by far.

There's no single-size streamer, so no one-size-fits-all solution. It is what it is. That 4 cents you made? Lot more than I've made! I'm glad to hear you're headed in a good direction!
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Spotify has actually paid me the most. The thing is, you can see a breakdown by service and a breakdown by song, but (AFAIK) no way to see where things are streamed. I've even got money from Youtube which is interesting because I was just wondering if I should make 'videos' to put up there.

I haven't seen any pay stats yet but I am pretty sure I am getting alot more views on google music than I do on Spotify. According to my Landr stats. I also use rumble https://rumble.com/register/dexterus/ where I have 2 cents for 736 views and I am thinking about doing dtube and any other site that pays for video also.

It's topsy turvy. One song has 65 plays. That netted 35 cents (look out Black Friday). Like I said, 145 plays netted 4 cents.
