After careful programming, sampling, and more programming, I'm happy to announce that CO2 is ready. This bank features 64 monosynth lead and bass patches using new Oberheim samples. Rhino's extensive options really make the sounds come alive in a way the original, expensive synthesizer couldn't.

Since some of the patches in this bank rely on waveforms from Classic Oberheim 1, that bank must be purchased and installed first for CO2 to work properly. For your convince, both banks appear together on the order page. Mp3 demos are also available at: http://bigtick.pastnotecut.org/djsmaurer/

Sold! :D

Downloading as I type this. I've been waiting for this one. CO1 left me wishing there were more, now they're are! How many more Classic Oberheim banks do you plan on doing?

Cheers, and thanks again Dan! :D

Which Oberheim did you model your bank from?

Cheers

Right now, one more bank is planned for release late this month to complete the series. CO3 features clavs, e.pianos, analog organs, and more huge synth sounds. This will leave Rhino users with about 100 Meg of Oberheim waveforms with which to create their own patches.

The entire Matrix series was used in creation of the banks; many thanks to Vorn and 'Tick who made this possible! However, Matrix internal patches were only an inspiration to program unique sounds for these banks. My goal was not to faithfully recreate old technology but rather to use that unique sound and expand upon it.

Very cool !

Daniel, is there another way to have your marvellous banks ?
i've had problems yesterday for buying the mega bundle, maybe it's my credit card (mastercard !) or the currency in dollar ...
i don't know but each attempt has been rejected.
Let me know...
Cheers

Thanks for the info. Can't wait for CO3! :D

Once again, amazing!

But for the first time ever, I have to take exception to the name of one of your patches. :)

The patch name is "harmonica", but to my ears it's one of the best clarinets I've ever heard. Maybe it's more harmonicalike in the upper registers. Or maybe I've just got my tin ears on today.

And on reflection, I've never considered the two instruments in comparison or contrast, but they are kind of mechanically related.

See? Not only another great bank, but a lesson learned, too! Now that's value for money! :hihi:

this is an awesome set Daniel, thanks

looks like my z3ta has some competition in the 'searing leads' arena

it's amazing to me how clean and powerful some of these patches are

'Layer Upon Layer 3' is AWESOME

thanks again 8)

The "harmonica" sound I was after was Stevie Wonder's upper register and Lyle May's lower register (which was actually a Synclavier). But you are correct that it sounds closer to a clarinet. A rose by any other name...

Rhino's waveshapers helped me get nasty on some of those sounds. I was going after a sharper sound and will have more bleeding leads in a future bank. But in the meantime, feel free to give suggestions here or PM me. I'll probably take a break from analog after the release of CO3 and would like feedback on what type of sounds you'd like in the future.

i was just thinking "i wonder if there's any news on the next bank from daniel?"...here it is. :)

excellent work once again.
as always, plenty of useful patches and every one of them is expertly crafted.

i think i've become a junkie for daniels patches. :help:

Gawd!

Those sound sweet!

Stupid question, are they using Rhino's filters, or are the synths sampled with filtering? :help:

Post

Not a stupid question! What gives each classic analog synth it's distinctive tone is the filter. Moog, Arp, Oberheim and Rhino all feature different filtering designs, each giving a unique flavor.

The samples in thes sets use Oberheim's sweet LPF. Rhino's filters were used in allpass mode to give me access to panning for that w i d e sound. On a few occasions in the last bank, Rhino's 12dB LPF was used because sampling a sweep 40 seconds long at 11 splits points would have been unwise use of 7min 33sec of sample time.

My goal was to not to just recreate the Matrix sound, but to improve upon it so the sound wasn't stuck in a certain decade. Why just copy something when sound creation has evolved so much since then.
