At the launch of v6, you needed to have 50 singles to qualify to 99€ Max upgrade. And now you can get it for owning just one single. Such a classy move from the guys again.

Is anyone surprised?planet_b wrote: Sat Oct 26, 2024 3:11 pm At the launch of v6, you needed to have 50 singles to qualify to 99€ Max upgrade. And now you can get it for owning just one single. Such a classy move from the guys again.![]()
If I had to guess, and this is just pure speculation, T-Racks 6 upgrades weren't doing anywhere near as well as they hoped at launch. So now they're trying to boost sales way earlier than normal even for IK by expanding the $99 intro price to everyone.
And honestly, it's still not enough incentive to tempt me into upgrading (I think I only owned 48 modules). The T-Racks 5 versions are good enough for me. From what I recall in the past (and correct me if I'm wrong), when a new major T-Racks version came out, IK would upgrade the modules you already owned just by downloading the free version. The incentive for the paid upgrade was always the new modules and the added features to the T-Racks suite. But if you waited, you'd eventually get the modules in Group Buys or other promos.
I'm not supporting this "pay to use the new version of the Black76 you already have" model. Even if they did add an external sidechain to the compressors. I'd mostly be paying for what? The privilege of a higher version number? The size of the GUI's is fine for me. So don't need resizing.
Honestly, outside of the Tape Collection, which is terrific (but got no added features other than resizing), none of the T-Racks modules are my first, second, third, or even fourth choice plugins. If I need an 1176 there are 3 great UA options, there's TrackComp from DMG, the Softube FET is cool, and same for the other modules.
If IK wanted to tempt me with an upgrade, they could've gone back and improved the older models. Do a White-2A MK II, Black76 MK II, do some "we used our Machine Learning tech on this new Neve 1076 EQ MK II". That would've been a good value prop for a $99 upgrade in addition to resizing. Not this.

So now they basically fully devaluated the 50 T-Racks plugins I already have - so it's the same as with Presonus - I'll most probably never upgrade. I would have taken them up on their 99€ offer before, but for some reason they didn't honor that deal in my case aned tried to coax 149 out of me instead - now they'll get nothing.
Really shabby....
Really shabby....

I was just on the site and it appears that the Total Studio 4 Max is 199? But it says log in to see your offer and when I log in it still says 199 upgrade? I have Amplitude 5 and all the amplitude extra amps and effects, T-Racks 5 and pretty much all of it, MODO BASS 1, MODO Drums 1, sample tank and most of that stuff. So I have most of what is in that, and the upgrade is 199, and also the new price is 199 for the whole thing? That doesn't seem right.

Try adding it in the cart, whether there is some discount coupon applied automatically?
But it could still be the same price, as the site says:
Total Studio 4 MAX (New purchase or upgrade) $/€199.99

It should be added automatically, but not applied. The latter has to be done manually.planet_b wrote: Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:40 pm Try adding it in the cart, whether there is some discount coupon applied automatically?

Not having any luck with T-racks and Cubase 13. All TR6 plugins in project crashes when loading the project, and Cubase displays the infamous unstable dialog when using the plugins in the sessions. This is for all TR6 plugins, TR5 is ok.
Obviously using the latest version of both.

Decided to take TR6 for a spin again due to the new upgrade price. Now I find all my TR5 licences appear to have activated the equivalent TR6 versions after installing TR6 Intro. Didn't do that before. Noice.

it did that for me too (on the previous version) but only on some of the plug-ins not all of them.

I'm a bit confused by the new Triad Chorus.
It seems pretty self-evident that it is based on the Dytronics Tri‑Stereo Chorus.
This is very much a welcomed addition to TR6.
But... the Tri-Stereo Chorus is pretty much fixed in it's settings. The Triad Chorus, on the other hand, is very flexible. While that's certainly nice, the problem is, there is no easy way to go straight in to the Tri-Chorus sound. There aren't even any Tri-Chorus presets, nor is there a global Rate control, which is how I think the Tri-Chorus Rate knob works.
So this ends up being something of a missed opportunity to provide an actual authentic Tri-Stereo Chorus that is easy to load up and work with confidently.

its a free plug-in for MAX users. and there hasn't been a chorus in the T-RackS suite yet. So I don't get the criticism here...jens wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 2:12 am They had the Fulltone TERC emulation for years, which Fulltone claims to be an exact reproduction of the TSC...

Yeah, well, I'm not sure I'd call it criticism - I think I know why they did it - it's the first time ever they added something for free after all and given the somewhat lackluster response to the V6 release... I have a hunch they just looked for a quick way to possibly appease disgruntled customers and get more people to upgrade (in my case they're still unsuccessful btw) - I don't think that when V6 came out this was already in their plans. I also assume that it's based on the TERC code.multree wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 1:03 pmits a free plug-in for MAX users. and there hasn't been a chorus in the T-RackS suite yet. Edit: don't get me wrong though - TERC is an excellent chorus and if it's indeed based on that code that's a good thing for sure.

Here's to hoping that they will release new stuff for free for a little while longer (until everybody upgraded). I already did so every new free plug-in that gets thrown on top is quite welcome.
