I'm interested to know how you guys organise your vox so as not to confuse them all after comp'ing different takes and so on. :?:

My singing is pretty consistent, so bear that in mind.

Lately I've been doing this:

1) Create 8 mono audio tracks.
2) Record each section of the song eight times (one take on each track)
3) Create a 9th mono audio track.
4) Copy the best phrases/words/syllables from the eight takes to the 9th.
5) The 9th (composite) track becomes the lead vocal
6) The remaining 8 tracks are hardpanned, bussed to a group, violently de-essed, and eq'd into the background.

Pretty straight forward. Often I'll have different sets for different sections of the song (eg verse and chorus, for different eq or level settings). You can hear this effect here and here.

Forever,

Kim.
