I just filled up my 13 port USB hub. I'm wondering if I should get a 2nd USB hub or a MIDI interface, probably an iConnectivity mioXL.
All of my MIDI gear is USB capable and I don't anticipate getting any non-USB capable MIDI gear anytime soon.
2nd USB hub or MIDI interface?

- there is usually 4-8 extra port available just getting cables for those
- example 19 pin header and 4 usb ports to put in a free chassis slot
- look for usb specs for mb
Even those selling ready built computers don't bother with these headers. Just provide back panel and possibly front panel ones since chassis often has those.

But there are usb 3 pci express cards to expand with too, rather cheap, $20 or so.
Still this worm nest of usb will get you into ground loop issues sooner or later. I stay with midi interfaces with DIN Midi, since they remove extra routes for ground to take.

I run my whole setup with multiple midi interfaces, usb is more convenient (just one cable) but I don't want to deal with noises. Whenever I use a usb midi connection in my setup, I need to use a usb isolator.
I have a iConnectivity MIDI4+ (among other MIDI interfaces) and it's a nice piece of gear; the usb hosting features are useful (there are a few things I avoid connecting directly to the computer).
