So, you can buy Studio One 7, but you can't demo it apparently? Is that correct? I can't find a demo option anywhere. I can't even find a demo of version 6 or some older one.

Does anyone know how to get a demo of Studio One?

Post

I believe, once you create an account, you will be able to download a demo.

Still not available but they added a message now.
Before, it would just go to version 6 demo page

This is not at all surprising on a new product launch. Patience ...

Most companies wait until a couple of months, the cynical would say it’s to get fanpeople to impulse buy or the practical would say to get any critical bugs fixed.
Mac Studio M4
15.7.3
Cubase 15, Ableton Live 12

True. Iirc, the demo version is usually released with x.0.1 or x.0.2 update.

So still no Studio One 7 demo to try?

You can demo it for 20 bucks on sub :clown:

It's disgraceful really. The pirates have had Studio One 7 since September and honest customers can't even get a taste!

Cubase had a demo from launch day for 14, and is a superior company and product in most ways. Version 7 of Studio One was released buggy as hell, and they have to get some updates under their belt for it to be usable. That's why the demo is delayed.
What sound do dreams make when they die?

If we make a few assumptions about their development iterations, then with 2 bugfix sprints of 3 weeks each, we can expect the next release to be ready around November 20th. Adding a couple of days for final testing, writing changelog, uploading to the servers...

I think the Studio1 team also promised several updates per year… Maybe the bug fixes will be the promised updates :D

If we look back to the historicals for v5 and v6 - the first "x.0.1" release was roughly 5 weeks after initial launch. And always on a Tuesday.

So - "by the book" - we could possibly see the first maintenance update this week.

That said - given all the gusto of that keynote video in late September - if this is their idea of a "faster development" cadence - I am already preparing myself for disappointment.

If v7.0.1 drops tomorrow - it will have come no faster than any other previous release cycles.

Well, software development takes time - even in an agile world. My take on "faster" (based on my experience of 20+ years in the software development business) is that they plan to bring new features faster out of the door and don't wait until a bunch of fixes & features has been cumulated.

But since I don't have any insight, this is a mere guess.

True "agile" development would be like everyone else does it.

Document 4 critical bugs (not 44) and fix those 4 and get them out there. Then start on the next 5. And so on.

Saying "we are focused on faster development" (but ONLY for new features) - is pointless.

The real value in premium software is stability and maturity - not some "faster" promise of adding some dinky features that may (or may not) matter.

There are some major issues with v7 that needed to be corrected 10 days after release - not 6 weeks later.
