@lotuz: The Echo volume changes according to the selected mode and if the SonS head is engaged or not. OUTPUT shouldn't saturate and that will be fixed next.
@sinkmusic: The SoS on the Roland is VERY different from the one you might find on an Echoplex. On the Roland is just an additional head spaced around 1.5x the 3rd head (which translated in a dotted note when sync is enabled).

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I know that (I own a RE501), and I have always found quite annoying such a limitation (I used to have a Korg Stage Echo, where you could get around 30 seconds of Sound on sound loops). I was hoping that your plugin would allow to bypass the original limitation on the hardware

No problems. I can take this as a feature request. An idea would be to place the SonS head before the erase head, so that tap time should be around the tape length or, even wilder, I can make this head virtually movable around the tape lengthsinkmusic wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2024 8:48 am Hi, Luca

Thank you, this definitively would be an improvement over the original hardwareAudiority wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2024 10:23 amNo problems. I can take this as a feature request. I think this is what the RE-301 does. It always had a more useful Sound-On-Sound function than the 501 imho.Audiority wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2024 10:23 am No problems. Plugin esthetics may not be important to you but are important to some people. You may want to try being less judgemental and more tolerant towards those that do not share your point of view.plexuss wrote: Fri Oct 25, 2024 3:46 pm An exciting audio software dev goes to market with yet another exciting and likely great sounding audio tool...
and... the customer base gets to work on nit picking the GUI and the dev gets sucked into placating. Three pages into the thread no one has posted detailed opinions on how it sounds.
It really is the end of prioritizing making good music. RIP music. But I am sure it will look amazing! I can't wait to fire it up and stare at it.

It has nothing to do with me. I was just reacting to people like yourself who like to look at plugins rather than use them to make music. Go and enjoy your graphics, don't mind me. And don't hold your breath either, I'm not likely to change. kiss kisscareyletendre wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:44 am Plugin esthetics may not be important to you but are important to some people. What's the problem with the aesthetics of Space Age 555?
It is very extremely close to the layout of the SRE-555. That's what I look for in a plugin GUI.
I suppose it could be more photorealistic?

Yes, I'm tired too. After a couple hours playing around with the 555, I like it. I used to have a 555 for a brief time in the early 90s. I always prefered the sound of an Echoplex - it was more loose and vibey where-as I felt the Roland fixed head design to be more preciece and static. But good for fidelity, something the Echoplex had challenges with. But nice to have that sound as I remember it. It was just at the time I couldnt justify the price of the 555 even on the used market for my little project studio. Ultra low budget. But definely what you want for a tape echo in a studio effect. The chorus sounds great on just about anything - one of the coolest one-parameter effect (on or off). If you like tape echo (hardware or software) you kind of have to have this. It was a good attempt at extracting as much audio quality out of the tape echo technology of the day.

And that's why people shouldn't be allowed to post suggestions in regards to potential improvements of the GUI? Because you had a 555 for a short time in the 90's?
Oh, by the way: if you are tired because you haven't slept since then that explains a few things.
