Just updated my MOTU Ultralite stuff, in theory I'm ready to roll with Sequoia.

Any macOS Sequoia issues?

Updated the very first day. Never had any issues.

the only issues i've had are firewall items greyed out, as in can't change their status via the interface, need to use terminal. I'm on 15.0.1 (24A348), i've just seen the update for 15.1... fingers crossed. Once bitten, twice shy... should be the Apple slogan really :P

here's a list of what companies have said what about sequoia

many have said nothing.

FWIW The greyed out items can likely be edited if you have a plist editor (xcode or 3rd party util). They’ll be in “Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist”. If you move that file to the desktop, and reboot, Mac OS should also recreate it - if all else failed. Just thought I’d mention it since it’s a rare occasion where you should be able to fix something without the terminal!

I’ll probably wait until the December Sequoia update, which they’ve already announced, before installing. Though I’m not sure how much other bug fixing they'll have done when they seem pretty focused on their AI right now.

Thanks all.

The lack of horror stories is comforting. I’ll go for it soon I think.

All good here. A few niggles but nothing music related

i'm on Sequoia 15.1 now, no issues so far.
Cubase still works, my plugins still load...

still clinging to my 'never to be updated' plugins in Rosetta like Bass Master, Albino and Carbon Electra :P

is it possible to ignore the "apple intelligence" Ai bullsh1t? can it be turned off or put in a corner where it will leave the user alone?

Post

i haven't even come across it yet. Oh...
just journeyed through the settings panel...
"Apple Intelligence is not available when Mac is set to English (Australia)." HA!
can't figure out if this is an insult without my intelligence enabled :(

there's a little "BETA" icon next to it, so i'd say give it a month or two and there will be some little paperclip asking me if i need any help with the dishes or something.

Ha. nice. I thought it was out of beta w/the x.1 update but perhaps it's just all the mac mini videos i saw from today making it seem like it's here already. If i install sequoia and their Ai bugs me i'll have to figure out a terminal hack or convince it i'm Australian. ;)

seems like it's pretty embedded into things based on the mac mini videos but hopefully there's a way to make it less visible. the Ai hints on social media are already toxic.

reading material?
i honestly have no idea, I have long since separated from ANY social media, apart from KVR :P
Also the furthest i've ventured into AI is the Adobe suite at work, or Synplant 2 maybe :\

English (Non-US) Apple Intelligence support will be added in the December update. The 15.2 update will supposedly add support for 3rd party AI (ChatGPT etc) along with Apple’s servers and on-device. For anyone who's worried, about what’s being sent and where, there’s always Little Snitch I suppose :)

And, assuming you trust Apple on this, it’s opt-in rather than opt-out, right?

You have to “join” to enable it, and there’s a queue, so it could take a few hours to make an initial download (says 4GB required), which is for the on-device AI. After that you can turn it on or off, under settings, alongside Siri.
