Trying to capture the curve of another plug

I'm trying to capture the EQ curve of another plugin using FF Pro Q3 which is easy enough to do when capturing the curve of a mix. But I would like to use some sort all around audio file as a source so I don't need to keep continually using different mixes to capture EQ curves. Would feeding pink noise into the plugin who's EQ I want to capture be the best way to go about this or is there a better all around source to use??
