Exactly. You can turn off the spectral re-synthesis and just use the reverb. the regular reverb is ok, its nothing ultra spectacular but with the re-sythesis its a magic machine. not very general purpose however. but that's not the point.

Hmm, $99 is pretty compelling. Those that have it - how much are you using it? How does it compare to other sound design reverbs, like 2caudio B2 (now on sale for $149)?

I do not use it at all.

I use it when I want a cool reverby/singing/spooky effect, trailing after a source. Or an otherwise other-worldly "ghost" sound dancing around the main source. There is nothing that can do that kind of thing as well, that I've been able to find.

Chose this thread to necro because demo'ing Adaptiverb right now, on sale currently under $79. All time low price?

Totally understand the criticisms - iLOK, CPU, latency, lack of updates ... but this thing is a beast for pads & drones. Sounds great also on found sounds. I don't see using it as a traditional reverb, but for ambient it is as special as has been claimed. I have thus far compared against Endless, Hyperspace, and Grainspace, all of which I find useful at times, but Adaptiverb is next level. Impressed so far. Anything else worth comparing?

The pad presets don't change whether I send pink noise or a kick sample in. Basically sounds the same either way, I guess because the freeze function, but I haven't tried adjusting the settings much yet nor really deeply read through the manual.

Following with Dawesome Love gives some additional subtle movement to pads. That combination working well together on a variety of sounds so far. I couldn't nearly get Velvet Machine to sound as nice following, certainly not on pads, but still experimenting.

I use it way more than I thought that I would initially. I’ve found it extremely helpful for when I want to bake the reverb effect into samples before I import them into a sampler like Falcon or Omnisphere 2.

That prevents some of the buildup of dissonant notes during playback. It can be time-consuming to process each note like that, but it makes a world of difference for me later in the mixing stage.
