My main goal to multiband compress all my finished tunes DIDN'T WORK.
However, I got a new tune done today:

The main improvement was to split the drums into several different sections and then mute and replace them strategically according to the needs of the tune per section. Like many other tunes, I also muted off and on other parts of the tune to get a much better performance quality.

here's the tune if you want to listen:

Some of the VST's I used:

EasyQ
BuzMaxi Limiter
MaxSynths Bass Module
U-He Hive
Marvel GEQ
GClip, GHigh
Terry West's channel strip
Linear Phase Graphic EQ

...I forget what else. But I started multiband compressing my drums instead of the whole project.
Next time I'll try to include a screenshot of my project stems.

Went back over what I'd made for patches on 3rd Wave, surprised I hadn't made more pad sounds.
Needed a pad for a track I'm working on.
Recoded my voice through the Spectravox and you can't tell it's a vocal at all, it's just noise, but a cool noise. After this many years, I'm something of a noise connessure. Will save samples.

cleaned up my DAW computer (i'm running out of storage space).
installed a few more VSTi's from plugins4free.com
finally installed Podolski and Feldspar (both pretty nice).
learned that I can get TB 303 sounds from Podolski and pretty nice FM sounds from Feldspar.
Also installed Pterosaur for some filtered supersaw types of stuff.

all in all these items show potential, and i got some new riff loops recorded.

hopefully i'll be able to get a better workflow happening.

The neverending cycle. :hihi:

I just got back from a vacation on Sunday, but picked up a cold in the second half of it and I'm still getting over that. (Vacation was mostly good anyway even though we did skip a few things we were going to do.)

So I'm not super driven to make music right now and find it a little hard to concentrate. But I still recorded a fun drone with Terrain that I plan on adding some string synth and Minibrute/Strega parts to later.

@foosnark: that is true! LOL
i peeked at your bandcamp.
looking forward to the surprises and drones.

Reinstalled Windows and got rid of a bunch of stuff from my plugins folder.

Buried a hard disk, and ordered a new one.

Feel so happy due to the strict backup rules I gave to myself (learned 'em the hard way).

Btw, my feeling is that HDs are more robust than in the early days. This one lasted very long, it doesn't even show up in the purchase history of my computer hardware supplier of choice as I bought it too long ago. 2015 is the last order date that's listed there (not a HD, something else).

Some faux Keefage Tele (though I'll wager his isn't a Squier.. :hihi: ) with alt tuning and capo action. I draw the line at taking the bottom string off though. Them things cost money.

got a new good tune done after i ditched the crappy one.
downloaded some more good VSTi's even though they are hella old.

Stuck in a phase of not finishing anything, mainly because on a project deadline for work and it’s leaving me too wiped after most days to do much more that veg out. Keeping my eyes open for Black Friday deals but my main shopping list item is a top notch Telecaster, want to do some ‘band’ style tracks.

i fixed the tempo of some WAV rhythm loops that were mislabled.
watched a tutorial video on how to do automation (i still barely remember how to do it).
practiced some automated EQ and noticed some differences between plugins.
converted all my saved WAV tunes to WV (wavpack) to regain 40% more space.
thought about how computer DAWs kinda burn me out compared to hardware
longed for the good old days of hardware LOL

I've had a thing started for months that I really like because it's a blatant copy of reggae and don't know what to do without vocals. But I just bought Pulsar Primavera because of a recommendation on this forum and I think it' s just the thing I needed for the track- oldschool spring reverb to turn it into dub.
It's still going to take a hell of a long time though as there will be constant automation.

today i listened to more reference tunes (like i always do).
also, used AudioMove to convert my drum samples to standard file types / bit resolution / sample rate.
thought more about how i need different speakers and maybe a better USB midi controller.
listened to some tunes (mine and others) on some tiny(er) desktop speakers.
tried to figure out what happened to old school pro musicians.

watched some YouTube videos about "ghost snare" techniques (awesome)

downloaded some MIDI velocity curve VSTs like this one: https://plugins4free.com/plugin/1414/

Yesterday this arrived and I was excited..

and then I found out it didn't work  um, well first used module from Perfect Circuit
Spent all night into the wee hours rearranging my euro rack because those little sliding bolts were in the wrong place for the new order I had decided on and, of course, I had to test it

It works well together and I can already make techno with it, the hole on the bottom is going to be filled with a Synthesis Technology: E490 Ladder VCF that I listened to at Knobcon in September.
