I love Melda plugins. It would probably take a person of average intelligence about 20 minutes of watching a few tutorials to get how all Melda plugins work. They all follow the same UX/UI style. It’s actually pretty brilliant, and if you’ve used Absynth before, it should be pretty familiar. It’s clear and very flexible. If you can’t deal with anything that doesn’t look like a picture of a classic synth or effect, move on, but if you’re willing to learn Melda’s system, you will be rewarded.
As for the nag “screen,” well it’s not a screen, really. It’s a button that basically says, “hey, if you’d like a more feature filled version of this, why not buy it?” If that’s too much for your delicate sensibilities, stay away. If you can handle the stress, you will be rewarded. I constantly use the free MTuner, as it’s better for tuning a guitar or synth than any other plugin I’ve tried. I don’t really use many other freebies from Melda, as I have other plugins that do that work, but MXXX is hands down the most flexible and interesting modular effects plugin available, and there’s a free version that will host the free plugins. MSoundFactory is another one that will reward you if you put in a little effort. I’ve built patches in it that have allowed me to sell hardware synths like the Peak and not miss them at all.

Huge fan of Align. Use it quite often and it works very well.
Rhythmizer is interesting at times.
That's all I use from them.

they really improved the UI, i find this one slick :morphex wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 2:17 pm They have some pretty decent DSP, but I’m in the camp of people who are turned off by the GUIs. I’ve tried to get used to it through the years because I care more about the sound.
The designs just don’t click for me. If a plug-in bundle like MXXX was released with a sleek user interface, I think more people would be willing to make the investment. Because that’s a beastly, monster of an effect!

@drdriller, is this a newer one? name? (have not yet updated to the newer plugin mgr). didn't love their first attempts at something more than the basic utilitarian vibe but this is as good as it needs to be.

One eats with the eyes first. With that said.... the Melda Woody style of the Gui is pretty ok.If you can’t deal with anything that doesn’t look like a picture of a classic synth or effect, move on, but if you’re willing to learn Melda’s system, you will be rewarded.

There's nothing wrong with the Medla UI once you design your own preset to suit your needs
Although I can understand people not liking the default scheme but it's so easy to tweak it or just download a user theme that you like and then tweak that
The plugs as audio tools are great

I own most of the Melda line, don't even have them installed or use them at all. Just over them I guess.
*I was going to use the looper, but it installed so much junk on my system to support the one
plugin that I immediately uninstalled it. True story...

I really don't understand this Melda UI hate at all.
You are all quick enough to pull up your Valhalla plugins, and they look like they've been ripped out of an 80's cartoon lol.
Melda plugs look far more sleek than that.
If people were saying "That many control options on a plugin is a workflow killer", then I could totally understand.
Or even "I don't want to feel intimidated by a plugin when I'm making music"
Yeah, fair point... I get that.
There is still things I don't understand, and I've been using them since 2009 or something.
But saying the UI makes your eyes bleed, while happily pulling up your Valhalla etc? (Sorry Sean, I use them too, hehe)
Well that just makes me think there is an underlying issue that people have too much ego to face.
I mean come on... not only can you choose different GUI styles, and colour them however the hell you like... if THAT's not enough, Vojtech even offers a full blown GUI editor, where you can actually make your own GUI from scratch (as far as I'm aware).
And hey, it's just my own opinion. Not looking for a fight here. But seriously... when a plugin offers that much control and versatility, it's obviously gonna be cluttered as fk. No way around that.
And btw, don't judge his plugins simply by what you see in the free bundle.
The Creative Bundle has plugins that are going to be my goto for many years to come.
Everything in multiband, which allows you to change crossover mode to Tonal / Transient??
Seriously, other companies are only just starting to release that function now, and everyone is getting excited over that.
And yet, Melda has had this built into every multiband plugin for years!
And just for that one single fact, I would expect people to cut Vojtech some slack, but no...
The way I see it... you have a need for his plugins or you don't.
If you need, you will take the time to learn it all.
If you don't need, you don't need. That's it.

Voj is no longer heavily involved I expect, if at all, since he sold the company and made out like a bandit no doubt. Anyway, that is one positive thing imo, he's quite difficult to stomach as a developer I think.

You sure he's totally gone? I was sure I'd seen him pop into the Melda forum from time to time.
No biggy for me either way. These plugins are done. As long as they get updates to keep them running, I'm happy with that.

This is what Vojtech wrote on the Melda forum when asked about the deal with IL:
"Hey folks, so , yes, it is true, not to worry - we are working basically independently, but it gives us more resources. So nothing is changing, just getting some opportunities ...
there's people for marketing -> more users -> more attention -> more support. And believe or not, according to my own stats, FL was always world's #1 DAW."
