Hi all,
I got a trial of Auto-Tune Pro, wondering can I record with Auto-Tune on? or will there be too much latency? I've been using Izotope Nectar for vocal processing and was told I can't have it on when recording due to too much latency, I'm assuming it's the same with Auto-Tune?
If so is it the same rule for all the related Auto-Tune plugins that come with Pro, ie. they have a vocoder, and EFX plugin etc. can I have those on and record?
and related question for rap vocals do performers record totally dry or with effects?
I'd like to find a plugin/way to be able to perform/record with effects as it helps creativity/performance, but seems all plugin options come with latency, I've considered maybe I need some hardware vocal processing and use direct monitoring, thanks!!

Dunno about AT but Waves Tune Real-Time does this
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

Thanks, I actually have that plugin, could use it for tuning, I'm more interested in having other vocal processing when performing/recording (compression, reverb, other effects)

There are many Retuning plugins that have small enough latency for realtime use. The old old versions of auto-tune could do it. GSnap, Mautopitch, and Waves tune RT all have very low latency. I'm sure there are others. Your host should tell you exactly what the latency of Antares is. Some tuning plugins have a switch mode for better detection at the expense of higher latency.

Regarding rap performances it very much depends on the artist. I'd guess that most artists that lean heavily on auto-tune would want it in place while recording.
