I've had several times when I've had to reformat my hard drive, due to disc errors, and lost several USB drives due to this. So maybe I've been unlucky but it does happen.
The main thing ilok needs to implement is a way to authorise everything if you lost access to your old drive, without the current thing of having to contact individual vendors to request authorisation....that's completely against the whole 'all in one place ' idea

There something I don't get with the ilok usb
How it work, if you want to use your muliple licence it the same time ?
Do you need 2 or 3 iLok usb ?

Nope. You dont need to put all your licenses on an iLok dongle, you can mix between the various authorisation methods, ie have some local HD and some dongle. And you can move them around fairly easily, if you have the iLok manager on the different systems you're using.

But if you have more than one iLok, and you have two authorisations for a given plugin, you can put the authorisations on different iLoks.

(And also you can have more than one iLok on a single system. )
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

That's the best idea that you've had yet. I'm not trying to be as rude as you might perceive. It's just tedious to read yet another shit-stained, because you pulled it out of your ass, opinion on why dumbfucks who can't afford a dongle don't like iLok. We're a bit tired of the endless whining. If you don't like it, then buy something that you do like. Stop trying to warn everyone about the evil that isn't an evil but just a necessity that is too pricey for the ultra-poors.
Price has nothing to do with the reasons why most people don't want to use ilok.

I have probably spent more money purchasing non-iLok software than you ever will on iLok software.

I also don't appreciate how you seem to take pride in bullying the other KVR member away in your foul-mouthed tirade against them. As quoted above.

That doesn't reflect well on your argument. On the contrary, you come off extremely poorly in that exchange.

thanks for this topic.
I almost decided to buy Falcon in the current promotion, but since its Ilok, i will decide not to buy.
on the other hand i have the native uadplugins that also Ilok related, but i dont want more stuff that ilok related.

Post

though i have one last question:
AFAIK if i use ILOK Cloud, that would be the safest way, and such losses would not appear (what the OP said) ?

Post

if you use the cloud you can’t accidentally lose a license but if you lose internet connectivity you will temporarily lose access to the license. so if you have a bad internet connection that’s something to consider. that’s actually been a big problem for my students who for the past few years are retrieving licenses like this. spontaneous drop out. waiting for their isp to get things back online. etc etc. again, never any issues with a physical dongle in decades.

Thanx. IMHO this internet dependency is acceptable, and IMHO its safer than the other options.
Then I may buy Falcon...

hAHa! Funny! Bought Falcon in this discount, and in the ilok manager I can see, that It's not "ILOK CLOUD COMPATIBLE".
So I have to go in the other way.

Didn't see this posted yet, pretty big for iLok to get Autotune back on their roster

https://www.antarestech.com/community/a ... -pace-ilok
We brought back iLok because our previous licensing platform was causing difficulties for the Auto-Tune user community. We heard the feedback loud and clear, and want to earn back your trust. PACE iLok is the industry standard for plugin licensing and we're confident that this change will have a positive impact on Auto-Tune users' experience.

Some vendors (like Waves) even let you choose which drive to use for license activation. If plugin vendors would use Windows 11-supplied hash for license lock, then if that hash would change, Windows itself would require new activation as well.

Apart from iLok, plugin publishers mostly use their own methods to detect system changes and this time iLok messed it up.
Not true, my waves licenses disappear whenever I enable WiFi

Just interesting. How many pro sound engineers or composers don't use Ilok?..
