And that is an excellent example of why audio is subjective - every measurement of frequency response, harmonic and phase distortion demonstrates the mid-cut and over-all gain applied with Q3 matches STA Enhancer within +/-0.3 dB measured in SPAN. But, everyone hears something different. This is why it's pointless to get into a disagreement with others about what is heard. As always YMMV. To my ears the EQ mid cut sounds the same as STA Enhancer but to others here STA has a nice enhancer effect to it... go with what YOU hear!El°HYM wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 10:09 am If its just for the Money, SlickEQ is actually free & the payware GE is often like 10 bucks or something. But if the STA has some kind of Mojo going on which suits your Production & Workflow. Obviously there isnt a real Successor for that exact kind of Enhancer, so far.

I just meant, that if it works for some and there isnt another option available, why not.

Re-upping
Seems Audified has killed off the STA effects. Good riddance except for the damn "enhancer". Has anyone found something similar? It's more than just a mid-range scoop. I'm finally updating to a Silicon Mac soon and I'm guessing the STA stuff won't work. Audified has erased any trace of them so I don't even know if I have the latest versions. I still use the enhancer all the time and I'm really going to miss it.

I had dead Audified software installed on an ARM mac although not that particular effect. Try it under Rosetta and you'll likely be pleasantly surprised. At least will buy you some time to find a replacement.

Yet you people insist on bending over an allowing Apple to shaft you whenever it takes their fancy. Honestly, who would put up with that from any other company?

Your rant makes no sense BONES, except some deep seated dislike for Apple that you seem to feel almost a compulsion to verbalize. Why not complain about Audified, who discontinued half their catalog?

You could make an argument that if it wasn't for Apple, those plug-ins would still work (like most old VSTs still work on Windows). So, while Audified did discontinue half of their catalog, large part of the fault does lie with Apple in some sense.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Thanks to this thread, I had a look in my plugin folder and found I've had the free Computer Music version sitting in there for years. Trying it out and it's really nice. I'm finding that putting it on Vintage Mode at 80% (using Reaper's wet-dry function), it gives a really nice lift to a full Metal mix. I used to use the STA Preamp when recording guitars a few years and always loved it.

Burillo, you make no sense either. The plugins do still work and how can Apple be blamed for a decision by Audified to discontinue half their catalog. SMH
Audified uplifted most of their plugins to ARM before discontinuing them (I see Peridot/Sphene/Tonespot all Apple Silicon native but still discontinued). It's a fallacious argument by uninformed crusaders in a holy war. You guys crack me up.

I really impulse-liked STA enhancer, but have to admit I stopped using it last year. The Eq scoop is too much for me, with no way to dial it down. It really is instant gratification but needed some way of controlling it so it doesn't entirely kill the mix. I still like it's overall mojo but it's similar to chocolate or BigMacs. Some is very pleasurable, but too much and you become a fat bastard. Anyway, I rediscovered BBE for my secret enhancer pleasures - the sw doesn't quite hit the clarity of the hw but nice enough for me (I still have hw but tbh too much of a hassle fitting it into my setup).

I just have it on from the get-go, along with FireCobra, so my production is done taking what they do to the final output into account.
Compare it to what happened when Microsoft did exactly the same kind of thing Apple does every year with Windows Vista - it was the biggest disaster in the history of Windows because Windows customers wouldn't put up with that kind of krap. Microsoft learned their lesson very quickly and it's been smooth sailing on this side of the walled garden since, for both users and developers.
It makes perfect sense. Do you understand how much development time gets devoted to the ever-changing landscape of macOS compatibility? It can delay updates and new product releases by months and months. As a long time beta tester for Synapse Audio, it amazes me how much time they have to devote to it. It hurts everybody and it only happens because Apple's customers put up with it.

As a Mac user for 30 or so years I largely agree with Bones. Apple's yearly compatibility- breaking update cycle is a pain in the ass. I usually stay at least one OS version behind. Right now, I'm currently like five OSes behind because I had everything working the way I liked it but I'm finally ready to try some current tech stuff that eats my CPU if it can even run on it at all.

What makes no sense is Audified did not provide any indication that their continued exertions towards support of Apple products was why they 86ed more than half their lineup. Chase your straw men. As you wish.

I guess instead of assuming they didn't update the STA stuff to be Silicon compatible, I should have simply asked if anyone has successfully used them with an "M" Mac. So, has anybody successfully used the discontinued STA Audified fx on a Silicon Mac (without Rosetta)?
