Yeah, that's what PreSonus said about being bought by Fender, too... :scared:

That is a promise I'm sure many bigger audio companies guarantee their smaller acquisition targets. Perhaps some hold true to their word. Issues may not arise until bizness conflicts with vision, or after there has been a changeover of senior management and the people who made the promises are no longer around to be held to their word.

Honestly, I wasn't even aware Melda sold out to IL.

You can totally pick and choose which plugins it installs. It’s super easy. No need to have anything you don’t want. MSuperLooper is awesome.

I did that, it still installed all the support files/ presets etc for everything. 600+ mb on the root
drive of my limited Dell AIO...

I didnt look for an individual installer tho. In any event, a lot of that stuff will still be installed
since that's how the modular system works. There are some core dll's that everything is built
from. Unless they changed things greatly from the last time I used them.

I'm actually playing with the JST repeater and I like it, even if it falls short of the melda looper
in various ways.

No... not whatever... apples and oranges...

It doesn´t matter what is said... it just matters what happens in reality...

Fender buys Presonus and in no-time everything changes:
- No artist version anymore
- yearly upgrade fee
- everything... even the forum now gets pushed into subscription

IL (well not IL but the investors who bought IL) bought a couple of companies many years ago:
- UVI
- Melda
- W.A. Production
- some more I cannot remember

What has changed for them??
Nothing... absolutely ZERO... at max some cooperation between them... business as usual!

So, being overtaken by someone doesn´t mean it´s the end or everything is at risk... it can be, yes... but this can be always the case for a gazillion of reasons...
Just lean back and look what really happens beside all of this noise...

Fender seems to have studied Gibson's history of computer-music acquisitions and decided to learn zero lessons from it.

Then again, had Gibson bought Presonus it would probably be a smoking hole in the ground by now.

And most ppl are also not aware that IL was sold by the previous investors to the former owner of Magix. Who in turn also bought Melda, UVI, WA Productions and Producerloops.

Never liked the awful UI/UX. Tried the reverb just now to see if things had improved but it's still as clunky and unintuitive as ever. The manual at over 54,000 words is longer than Slaughterhouse-Five or The Great Gatsby. For an extremely complex synth I could understand, but for a reverb?? Ain't got time for that.

You can click on the "?" inside the plugin and open an explanation of every parameter of the plugin.

IL should fix this. I didn't know they owned them, and I have problems only with Melda plugins because they download from the cloud, but the free ones installed something called MPluginManager and when it feels I haven't updated or refreshed licenses in awhile, likes to turn off plugins forcing me to go online, open the FL Cloud, and update. Like I say, ONLY Melda. It's frustrating and worse than iLok (IMO)

Although the Melda plugin GUIs have never been my absolute favorites I've grown to like them due to the ability to customise styles. I also very much enjoy the sound and features of the Melda plugins I own.

I've settled on this color and style since it fits all my DAW themes well and is easy on my eyes. The knob colors can be set to any personal preference:

On the subject of Styles, Sayatunes provides a free one called Oasis. It's not to my personal tastes but I imagine others will find it appealing. He also has skins for other plugins, all worth checking out.

With the new Melda Plugin manager there is a nice free Delay plugin worth checking out (see image above). :tu:

I've not tried it yet, but word on the street is that there's a free 64 bit version of Mobius that's out now. That was my first software audio looper, and it replaced a LP-1 Looperlative. It's core functionality was patterned after the Oberheim (and later Gibson) Echoplex Digital Pro, but it's highly configurable and has a whole scripting function for people who are looking to do advanced stuff. I've never explored that, but I basically used it like a set of 16 EDPs run as 8 stereo loopers.

I don't think I've ever gone to any of the manuals and I use them all the time. What is it about the reverb that the manual was needed for? It's not like middle school, where you have to read the assignment before you get to do something.
