What he is asking for, what many of us have asked for for years is to have say scene 1 in 4/4, scene 2 in 3/4 etc..So there can be several time signatures used in the project...

If you know how to do this, please tell us how.

not great btw.

I agree with most of the review. Especially the end part. Only issue I had with the review is that they said Maschine only supports up to 8 groups, it supports way more than that.

I also don't agree with the interface being modern. There is a lot of graphical issues that I've been experiencing on my Mac that seems to affect new NI plugins. I use an external monitor, apparently this is known issue with other plugins that NI has yet to address. Maschine 2 and all of my older NI plugs do not have these issues.

There is a lot of aliasing on the icons and text in Maschine 3, while at the same time being blurry. You can tell they weren't meant to deal with the interface being that dark. Also imo dark doesn't make it modern. It looked fine in Maschine 2 imo. The issue has always been the lack of scalability options imo, not how light or dark it was. They made the interface worse imo. It looks amateurish and unfinished. Maschine 2 has these issues but they were less apparent in since the interface was a bit lighter.

Modern interfaces have sharp text and icons with little to no aliasing along with the ability to scale. Compare something like Bitwig, or even Ableton to Maschine 3 and you will clearly see the difference. How they can fail so hard when there are so many free and modern toolkits out there is beyond me.

No Custom Time Signature per scene.

Ok but I thought that was more what people wanted, it’s time signature that determines how many beats are in a measure and what note counts as one beat. Tempo is just the overall speed - maybe it can do that too now?

Maybe indeed it might be what more people wanted..
But I beta test for Maschine for.. wow since the Maschine 1 days and the time signature I know was also requested back then..

It can do tempo changes but definitely not time signatures.

While I agree that the changes made by Apple were probably a pain, NI imo is solely to blame here. They have terrible development practices, a lot of technical debt they can't seem to ever get rid of. They seem to lose developers that worked on key software a lot so they can never fix issues or develop their software further than just maintenance work for the most part.

It's extremely frustrating because NI used to be so innovative, their hardware is actually pretty good. But they are constantly being failed by their software team. The Kore controller was built like a tank. All aluminum, touch sensitive knobs, not even 4 years later deprecated and useless.
Oh yeah for sure NI are solely to blame no doubt. There is no interest in keeping legacy instruments or hardware running, and they've stopped really developing Maschine, I think that's obvious with this crap "upgrade". It's rare when the music rags bring out the knives and skewer a company like NI.

IMO what we're seeing is par for the course though, they hate maintaining software, and you're right they obviously go through developers.

"Get the full Maschine 3 package with all the sound in Maschine Central, plus additional software: Ozone Elements 11, Massive, Monark, Reaktor Prism."

Not Ozone Elements yet again!
There must be people with a handful of licences without every buying it.
At least the basic update without the extras is only £25.

I wonder what in that list makes them HAVE TO drop support for Maschine MK2 :?

Feel ripped off spending $29 on this point update.
Couldn't believe the interface still doesn't scale or support hi-dpi on Mac.

That's what they are advertising as the new 'advanced' midi editing
It is a new low for NI charging for point updates, but at least even they didn't have the front to say this was a full update and charge accordingly (like they did With Kontakt 5)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I think NI is selling access to the lifetime of 3 to whatever comes next, as far as updates, vs one huge update. They should make that more clear. Maschine is a solid product and that’s why I’ll continue to keep it. Though I think their wording could be much better.

This "update" is just the final death rattle of NI. I wasn't expecting much and boy did they deliver on that expectation. :hihi:

There were a lot of free updates to version 2 over a long period.
Probably too much of a slow drip for many but at least they were free.
I am in no hurry to upgrade so will look back in 5 years.
Even a slow drip can fill a bath tub in 5 years!

It's kind of hard to sell that when Maschine 3 is Maschine 2 with a new coat of paint and some 3rd party stuff added. At least Maschine 2 was drastically different than version 1 and was a clear upgrade. Everything is version 2 was touched from version 1. That's what people were expecting with version 3 since it's taken so long for version it to be released. As it stands Maschine 3 seems more like Maschine 2.19. The fact that they are charging for it was probably not helping any.

I think due to past behavior people are a little wary of NI and their promises.
