With WA, though, this is like reverse-FOMO for me. They deeply discount their stuff every couple of months like clockwork. So if they're telling me that I missed out on their best intro deal now, well, OK. I guess I'll just wait a couple months and see if I'm still interested the next time it's on sale in October or November.

Well I guess it worked since I just purchased the upgrade. It was $10.45 after tax so couldn't resist. You can't get a decent cheeseburger for that these days so if it entertains me for the weekend or more I'll be happy........

Anyway, first impressions....The upgrade brings some nice new features so it's definitely a step up. The new Wavetable options are interesting and the addition of an Arp is welcome here. The modulation options may not be as numerous as some people need.

I hate the interface with a passion but despite its lack of visual appeal it is functional.

The size options are a bit limited but may be locked to monitor size since all I get is max 160% which is a bit smaller than I'd like at 1920x1080. That may not be big enough at 4K but again more options may be available if the plugin reads monitor resolution.
I'm not a fan of the "Wave Lab" opening up at the bottom of the GUI rather than as a tab on top since it requires constant manual resizing but I can kind of understand why they did it that way.

I've done about a half dozen presets so far and it's quite easy to use. I'd put it on the same shelf of the library as Spire. I'm not saying they sound the same just that they're in the same area of sound "flavor".

I'd say it's worth the upgrade or if you can pick up the full version for $20 it's definitely worth that as well. But as always try the demo first.

Same here. Bigger size options would be helpful.

Version 2 still doesn't have any midi learn, or does it?

I found one good preset that I really like.

Is there a way to load Babylon 1 presets? Just asking. It didn’t work for me.

That is a good start.

It appears that Babylon 1 presets are completely incompatible with Babylon 2. That opens the door for WA Production to sell a whole new line of preset packs.

I wonder if one could code-up a Babylon 1 to Babylon 2 preset converter?

Possible in Reaper anyway, with both Babylon 1 and Babylon 2:

Select 'Param' menu, 'Learn >' sub-menu, select synth control (incl. mod matrix, and effects), "Move the MIDI or OSC control you wish to assign. ...".

----

Very surprised that B1 presets don't work in B2. Since B2 appears to be a complete superset of B1, no obvious reason they shouldn't. Having made a number of presets in B1, I hope they update.

Why would you make a v2 of a synth and the v1 presets don't work? Why would you not build on the heritage of the existing product? anyway at $19.99 no complaints here.

Babylon 2 can load version 1 presets. Just put them into the presets folder and you're good to go. I do not check if they sound exact the same, but still, better than nothing.

Also, I want to say that my Babylon 1 preset banks are now free. 3 packs with a total of 272 presets.

The links are here:

I believe update v2.1 added that v1 preset import. If you have v1 presets, definitely do the v2.1 update.

It looks to be primarily the filter section that causes v1 presets to sound different. To get them closer, start by turning off Fast mode in the filter menu (which defaults to on).

This is on sale now again on adsr, anybody still jerking around with this.

I bought it just because. I like the Original but never got it though. It sound pretty good, and I particularly like the way the FM sounds but it’s completely unnecessary and underwhelming if you have anything else like Massive,Vital,Serum etc. It’s ok but could be better, worth 10 dollars to me. The added arp is pretty cool, they probably should have added some mseg’s and some oscillator effects though
