edit (2024-11-10): it's been released; free upgrade from v3 users and intro offer for new users (can't see the price in USD, but around $40)

---

Was surprised I couldn't find a post about reMIDI 4 (hope I didn't miss it), so I'm creating one!

From the SongWish website (homepage):
reMIDI 4 will be available here for purchase in November 2024
https://www.songwish.ca/products/remidi-4

The product page also mentions "Free upgrade for reMIDI 3 users" (which was released less than a year ago if I recall correctly)

Anyway, the UI is much nicer to my eyes and it seems now it also allow to work with drum patterns:
Imagine having a sampler that works with both melodies and drum patterns. With reMIDI 4, you can grab any musical phrase or drum groove, chop it up, and rearrange it. The possibilities are exciting!
...and you can finally delete notes in the editor by double clicking on them!

Even if the main idea is for it to be used as a midi "sampler", I actually like the concept of using it as a sketchpad entering notes myself in the editor and using the different tools. The midi editor itself is also more powerful that what you usually find in similar tools (it evens supports muting notes and triplets).

Looking at the intro video for v4, it seems a really nice update; what are your thoughts?

Still haven't upgraded from reMIDI 2. Wonder if I'm going to lose the discounted upgrade path when v4 is out?

Thanks, that's in the reMIDI3 column. I can get that today for $19 and then a free upgrade to v4. What happens when v3 is no longer sold? My point was it feels like if I don't take advantage of it now, I may get locked out of a discount completely. The good news is that some of my hesitancy to upgrade is being addressed in this new release.

Post

Probably best to email them.

It's possible to download the demo for reMIDI 4 so I did that, and if I like it I will just upgrade. If not, I might email. They have been responsive in the past.

you did? I thought it wasn't released yet?

anyway, even comparing it to reMIDI 4, the new version seems to address quite a few things that bothered me in terms of UX:

- UI look and feel in general / themes
- Slice to Pads / Scale to Pads allow for a much quicker workflow
- Split Notes At Playhead / Join Notes
- Double click to delete a note
- Adjust the time signature for the sequence in the sequence tool should allow to work with polyrhythms
- the utility tool (and other tools) has now an apply button so I guess changes are non destructive (ok "undo" was there already anyway) until you click apply
- "Project Scale" also seems a new feature (?)

looking forward to trying it!

looks like you have the version 3 demo.

I didn't expect reMIDI 4.zip to contain reMIDI 3_3.0.0 folder but you're right.

I just downloaded the reMIDI 4 demo. It now contains the reMIDI 4. files.

nice one! seems it just released

by the way, the site mentions:

in the meantime the shopping cart is not working for me, so I can't download the demo :-| (when I try to open it, it flashes briefly and then nothing)
