Experimenting live on video with re-synthesizing a tenor sax phrase in MYTH using the new re-synthesis introduced in version 1.5, tweaking numerous parameters on the fly - explanations inside.

I think you're misunderstanding (or making a stumbly language joke) what USP means. It refers to what makes a product unique. Has nothing to do with the price.El°HYM wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 11:51 am Normally JRR has very unique USP around Black Friday, worth to check if you are on a Budget.

Just curious, if this is not unique, what are the other Synths that do similar? (Genuine question) Loving 1.5, with the limited time I've had to play so far, it's more what I was expecting the first time around.

I've said this before on this forum but a synth is not just a list of features.Parpfrat wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 11:11 am I have both Love and Novum and love them both. Had my eye on Abyss for some time and will probably cave in of the BF deal is good, but for the life of me, I can't see what the USP is of Myth.
It's a collection of features, workflow, ergonomics and sound that all come together as an instrument.
Many synths overlap in features but differ drastically in implementation.
Msoundfactory has many of the features of say Falcon or Halion but many people would choose Falcon over Halion based on the UX
In some ways Myth is like Novum but Novum is not modular, lacks the Iris FX, lacks many of the processors, lacks the FX and is more focused on granular.
I think Myth is Dawesome's best synth by a country mile. It's not that the others aren't great they are but the specific combination of everything in Myth just clicks with me.
I think it's the fastest to work with due to its design being more intuitive. The "pedal board" layout of FX and oscillator processing is better than the other designs in Abyss, Novum and Kult, imho.
The drag and drop of the last output of the synth is a great feature and the ability to lock and randomize the current preset also gives a lot of possibilities.

Modularity with very straightforward UI, parameter ranges chosen with a lot of love (work), great sounding resynthesis, the iris modificaters are unique to myth in their concept, can cover a huge ground, makes sound design very easy, kills my cpu very easily sums it up for me.jules99 wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 3:11 pmI think you're misunderstanding (or making a stumbly language joke) what USP means. Best of the Dawesome pack! There is no better resynthesizer in the world. You get sounds you‘ve never heard before.Parpfrat wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 11:11 am but for the life of me, I can't see what the USP is of Myth.
Useless for boring music though…

It's still resynthesis. And I think (or hallucinate) that I always hear a certain sound ingredient typical for resynthesis. I just don't like it. But this is just my opinion, of course. I also don't like the sound of flangers, that's why I never use them.

Anyone know when the sale is over?
Edit: just got an email that says "ends Nov. 15" (50% off - $89.50)

Almost every time I patch something with it I wish for that.Sampleconstruct wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 10:58 pm An envelope follower as modulation source would be totally golden...

That's wild, i guess it's time to demo myth. I downloaded v1 but was in a chaotic move and barely touched it.Sampleconstruct wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 2:35 pm Experimenting live on video with re-synthesizing a tenor sax phrase in MYTH using the new re-synthesis introduced in version 1.5, tweaking numerous parameters on the fly - explanations inside.

Yes absolutely. For more dynamic samples this would be invaluable.Sampleconstruct wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 10:58 pm An envelope follower as modulation source would be totally golden...

Absolutely also being able to use the amplitude of the Irises as a modulation source.Sampleconstruct wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 10:58 pm An envelope follower as modulation source would be totally golden...
My one criticism of Myth is that it doesn't leverage the resynthesis enough as a modulation source.
You can do this in Novum where you can extract the amplitude envelope of a sample and apply it to the spectral content of another sample.

You'd think they could just use the overall amplitude that was extracted during resynthesis. It's already in there.Sampleconstruct wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 10:58 pm An envelope follower as modulation source would be totally golden...
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.
