One more thing I found.
When I just load the project containing comboboy, and I activate them by displaying the GUI, the comboboys start emmiting clicks/dropdowns until I disable/enable them. (kill/restart the DSP process)

I can't reopen any SONAR4PE project that has a CONVOBOY in an AUX BUS. Sonar Crashes. Weird.

Firstly, let me report a similar bug:BC wrote:I can't reopen any SONAR4PE project that has a CONVOBOY in an AUX BUS. Sonar Crashes. Weird.
I had Sonar 2.2 XL open (Using Cakewalk VST adapter). I successfully auditioned one short (1 second) clip with an IR I downloaded from noisevault.com (Chicago Church). I stopped the audition, and when I clicked on a control in the ConvoBoy GUI (Gain, I think) Sonar and/or ConvoBoy froze and the hard disk started working really hard. I left it like that for about 30 minutes, and then gave up and shut down ConvoBoy and Sonar.
Secondly, I'm curious to understand the usage model for ConvoBoy if I can't use it in realtime. How do I know how a track is going to sound with the reverb sitting in a mix without applying the reverb to the entire track (which takes quite at least a minute or so on my Pentium 4 2.6 laptop with WinXP Home and 512 MB RAM, 5400 RPM drive).
And how do I use it in a bus if I can't use it in realtime?
Thanks for your help and hard work. I sincerely hope that you are able to make a living from all these beautiful little plug-ins.

If you don't already have version 1.03h of 'Convo Boy' it is now available to download and I will be posting out the update tonight to those that already registered.stoobie wrote: Firstly, let me report a similar bug:

The performance of various DX wrappers seems to be very variable with quite a few VST plug-ins (Elevayta included). However, you might like to try the following:
- Make sure you have the most recent version of 'Convo Boy' and your adapter.
- Try loading 'Energy XT' or 'Chainer' into the DX wrapper and load 'Convo Boy' into a slot in one of these. BTW, I just tested this myself and it works fine.
- If you are using 'Directixer 2.5' then set the option called "Alternative Window Sizing Method".

I'm using 1.03 of Convoboy - I'm not sure of the sub-rev (1.03h is the latest?). Where should I go get the last revision?
I'm using SONAR4 PE and the latest Cakewalk VST wrapper (4.4.3? I think?).
There are a few IR files that generate errors when I try to load them but those usually aren't fatal. If I put CONVOBOY on a bus SONAR will crash when I re-open that project. If I open that project (shift-click) so that I can bypass specific effects it will crash if I *don't* bypass CONVOBOY.
I really like CONVOBOY - nice simple interface, seems like it uses less CPU than SIR.

You can simply re-register and download or wait until the update link is mailed to you. It should be sometime today (in the next few hours), but it is out of my control at the moment.BC wrote:I'm using 1.03 of Convoboy - I'm not sure of the sub-rev (1.03h is the latest?). I was using 1.03a - I did just that (re-register) to get 1.03h.
Also, I'm getting noticable phasing on any "humidity" settings below 100% (haven't tried 1.03h yet - dunno if that's a known issue).

Not a known issue (to me at least), the default setting is 50% which should give a half dry half wet mix.BC wrote:Also, I'm getting noticable phasing on any "humidity" settings below 100% (haven't tried 1.03h yet - dunno if that's a known issue).
I don't know what happens in non-PDC hosts. If your host is not performing PDC then there will be a delay between the input dry signal and the processed dry signal if you have used it as a send effect. This could sound like phasing.

SONAR4 is fully PDC enabled. One of the first to do/be so, as I understand it.
It sure sounds like phasing to me.

I just downloaded and installed version 1.03h and I can't get Chainer to open the Convo Boy GUI. When I try, it just crashes:
I deleted the old plugin, and only the new 1.03h is on the drive. Chainer doesn't crash until I try to launch the plugin's GUI.
I also tried this plugin in Tracktion, and although Tracktion doesn't crash, I can't get this plugin's GUI to display. All I get is an empty window. (At least it does try to open a window.)
Any suggestions?

Convo Boy tries to auto load the last file that was loaded. Try changing the name of your IR file directory temporarily, so that Convo Boy cannot find the last file and see if the GUI opens in Tracktion.McLilith wrote:I just downloaded and installed version 1.03h and I can't get Chainer to open the Convo Boy GUI. You are apparently using Convo Boy as a send effect. In this case you will hear the current signal and the delayed signal together. Due to the latency of the plug-in, the mix will sound phased. This is unavoidable. Try it with any other convolution reverb and you will probably hear the same thing or worse.BC wrote:SONAR4 is fully PDC enabled.
