Hay.

Cubase is a mess. Maybe more DAW companies should make subscription so that they do not feel the urge to add bloat, but instead focus on bug fixes and other issues.

What you think? 8) 8)

I think Cubase is brilliant, that's what I think. What you call bloat, I call all the features I need and want to make music. I wish more software had as many capabilities, options, and power-user workflows like Cubase.

Yes! I like the idea of a subscription model for Cubase.
Imagine: Cubase Basic - $9.99/month for bug fixes only, Cubase Pro+ - $19.99/month with guaranteed crash-free sessions, and the Cubase Ultra Stable package - $49.99/month, which finally stops adding features we’ll never use.
Got a little something for everybody!
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Current Cubase much bloat, Old Cubase not so much... Cubase 3.70 from 1999 very small install for the SIZE had alotta features, tight coding no garbage so as to work on old grim spec machines-

Best version I say... Downhill from there...

I sold my Cubase Pro and moved down to the next version of AI. Upgraded to Elements and found I'm happier with less features.
Likewise with Bitwig, and not only am I happier with the downgraded previous version, it's far more stable and with much less unnecessary clutter.
I would say start with any DAW at its most basic version.

It's simple to edit the interface of Cubase. You can make it as sparse or as complex as you want.
