I mainly use it to load 1 shot samples or hits and add a bit of Crunch with the sample rate/bit reduction and deploy some of the stretching algorithms.
I was about to say that what distinguishes Soundbox is that it supports MPE... but so does Tal Sampler.

It's incredibly annoying that the Soundbox web page seems to only provide detailed information in the form of a video. I hate being forced to watch a video just to get a list of features.

Soundbox doesn't support Lift/Release velocity. Skimming through the video I found no detailed discussion of MPE. It looks like there *might* be an option to customize the curves for Slide and Aftertouch... or maybe not.

I had to read a review to find out that it doesn't have round robins. Also from that review: "The Modulation section is also where you can set up the MPE functionality for polyphonic aftertouch but this was unfortunately not working in the version we looked at. Audiomodern has stated this will be addressed in a coming download."

https://www.attackmagazine.com/reviews/ ... e_vignette
MPE support was released broken, they've issued a fix, and it still isn't working properly (source: https://forum.audiomodern.com/t/mpe-pit ... tly/2006/9 )

BTW audiomodern are removing posts on their forum as well as comments on their videos. They've deleted not only every Dash Glitch post (on SoundBox at least), but removed his account too. They also deleted at least some of their own replies to him and others.

Wait, what "woke" comment? Did Audiomodern call Dash "woke"? That's a big red flag for me, I like their products but not going to support a company that is run by MAGAt trolls.

Censorship? Oh wow, that could be the beginning of the end for them. Silencing criticism never goes well, it usually backfires in the long run. Instead of deleting posts and accounts, they should be addressing concerns openly and improving their products. Transparency and dialogue are what keep a community strong, not censorship.
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

100%!! When the seeds of pride and greed take root and begin to grow, the resulting trees will offer fruit with an enticing appearance. But a single bite will reveal the rot inside.

I learned that as a kid. As corny as it may sound, I’ve seen that nugget of wisdom play out over and over again in people who simply cannot or will not admit their mistakes.

I’ve purchased their entire bundle of software and was looking forward to trying out this new sampler platform. I don’t want to see this company fail or earn a bad reputation. They’ve been really helpful to me in the past.

I think Soundbox could be developed into a very competitive and polished plug-in at that price point. But as a paying customer, I can’t just overlook the way that they are treating their creative partners.

I don’t know all of the facts, and I never assume that a version 1.0 of a plug-in is complete. But it should do what’s clearly being advertised. And if they’re taking the road to censorship instead of communicating openly with their user base and partners, sadly it reveals an unethical business model. What a bummer!! :(

Now that's a pretty hysterical take. Personally I despise Trump/MAGA and also despise woke nonsense. The world simply isn't black or white.

But either way, the way this company have dealt with their own epic clusterfuck is enough to make me most likely not purchase from them again. They essentially seem duplicitous and/or incompetent.

That said, if they issued a mea culpa in the vein of Minimal Audio, that would be both refreshing brave and economically wise.

Even if you object to some of the excesses of "wokeness", a company representative using the term in this context is just bonkers aggro mega-MAGA frothing at the mouth...

Or just regular old stupidity.

attempt at damage control in operation. player is free, you only have to buy a sample set from them to unlock the editor.
but now they have a free sample set. (not sure if that counts for the unlock, though.)

And now they have dirty deleted the entire thread on their forum where customers were finally able to convince them to organise a free Player version - it used to be at https://forum.audiomodern.com/t/soundbo ... el/2037/23

I did actually do a second video at https://youtu.be/pmF6GayuuD0?si=0I72qCU2gQSuUCS7 . No idea if AM have seen it, but their recent strategy of scrubbing anything even remotely like dissent from their forums is still alive and well, regardless. Well done, you've now joined Unison Audio, Spitfire, Crow Hill, Waves and Acustica on my plugin company shit list. Even Waves had the good sense to backtrack and apologise, I don't know how the Audiomodern leadership sleeps at night treating their customers even worse than Waves. They should consider themselves extremely fortunate Dash Glitch is as gracious as he has been to them (he has been far far kinder than they deserve), and that no one with a moral compass and an even bigger audience has weighed in on this.

So, I'm done talking about Audiomodern in videos, they don't deserve the air time nor to be given any mind share for rage-baiting. I'll also be uninstalling all their plugins, they don't even deserve the SSD space, and making sure my email address is unsubscribed.

PS, they re-collect your email address yet again if you download the new library, even if you do it from a logged-in account. Be *extremely* wary of trusting them with your email address.

I don't give a f**k, the free library and Kromium sound absolutely f**king great! I made this in a couple of hours the other night, on four layers using presets, with virtually no mixing and no effects, other than my usual master chain.

OK, if I'd found out about this when you guys did, I might have your attitude but it seems they've sorted that shit out and I had no problem getting either the free player or the free library. I went back the next day and bought the Kromium library and if you take it as a whole with the free stuff, 29 Euros is stupidly good value. I've been having so much fun with it that I haven't even bothered to look into the features or editing. If all I get out of it is a library of high quality, usable sample-based presets, I'll be extremely happy with my experience.

It’s super barebones as a sampler.

There aren’t many features to really speak of. MPE is supposed to be one of the marquee features but it’s not working correctly.

Modulation is about as basic as it gets.

The FX are almost comically limited.

The samples are good. I have all three packs and they’re of excellent quality. I just think the platform itself is a bit undercooked so far.

I can’t help but compare it to Soundpaint and Soundpaint is miles ahead in about every way imaginable. Much better free library, much deeper feature set, much more comprehensive library options. Proper Fx, proper time stretching and morphing.

Not things I have even the slightest interest in.

Maybe SoundBox could be interesting for many people because it is "basic. For example, for sound designers who want to offer their library with a different (or additional) platform, instead of e.g. DecentSampler etc.

That's the point. You don't give a f**k.

FYI: there's indications that the SoundBox content is more or less recycled material from the days when Audiomodern were still selling Kontakt libraries. So you may already have those "f**king great" sounds on your hard drive. And paid for them before.

But wait, who am I telling that? You don't give a f**k anyway, right?
