You couldn't ask for a better way to see what a synth is capable of than a OSC. I was thinking of picking up Myth if/when it goes on sale so I'm really looking forward to see what people do with it.

I've been playing around with the synth and so far I'm really impressed with its capabilities! It seems that the biggest problem for me in this OSC round will be my poor old i5-3470 CPU There were even a few individual presets that could overload it. I will probably have to resort to some sort of track freezing economy.

My i5-2450M rolls its eyes ironically... yes, it's going to be hard. Make sure that the CPU is set to "Eco" and limit the polyphony, the "cap" mod under "poly" does this for all presets. And a lot of frozen tracklets, of course...bzz wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 9:23 am I've been playing around with the synth and so far I'm really impressed with its capabilities! What a surprise, its such a wonderful beast. I own it for quite a while… I have to jump on this one. Regrading sample use, each sample is transformed into something else. Kind of extreme data compression with unexpected artifacts which will turn into welcomed happy accidents…
I bet Peter will be delighted…

Hehehe, (on Discord) we've just watch you eat your hat from back in the day. Great to see you here again! Would be a pleasure to hear a new track from you again.Tj Shredder wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 2:37 am What a surprise, its such a wonderful beast. This is indeed a problem.

I love music, worked with a number of music/rhythm/dance games like Pump It Up, In The Groove, Cytus and Deemo, and teach music production.

Hey, I'm doing a rules clarification vote regarding the situation where someone refuses to submit their OSC project files to organizers here: viewtopic.php?p=8992457#p8992457

This is an awesome synth! Even the controls and visuals in the GUI are really nice and well thought. However, I have one critics here: The GUI is extremely slow as soon as you upscale the size of it. The framerate drops to 10 Hz or so, and this also affects the sound, if you move the controls on the gui, since it now will jump in raw steps. I am on a M1pro macos system. The GUI obviously lacks of GPU acceleration aka Metal2 support. Also OpenGL could be not even offered since macos 12, since it does not support hardware acceleration then anymore.
What about making the asymetric shaper also available under fx? Or maybe even a free shape to draw here? Would be interesting on sine like sounds for sure, so harmonical combinations would interact in the shaper.

Really? I mean, I'm on probably the most basic M1, but I'm running my display on 1080. I don't have such GUI troubles. What I love about the mac is how quick and easy it is to switch resolutions. I'm sure even at 1440 you should have less troubles.Hanz Meyzer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 11:18 am This is an awesome synth! Even the controls and visuals in the GUI are really nice and well thought. Depending on your runtime environment, GL seems to be translated properly for the M1. I'm having fun with WebGL, writing my fluid dynamics painter for the browser. I wonder if it's a DAW matter? What DAW are you using?

Stupid question maybe, but can we use Zyklop as well?

I don't know why you would, since Myth can do everything Zyklop can do and more (more modules, effects, etc)
I digress though: I don't make the rules

Not a stupid question at all, imo. If Zyklop is easier on older CPUs, for instance, it would make perfect sense to use it. Maybe it will not use such a stupendous amount of memory either. Provided that Zyklop is a subset of Myth, I don't see any reason against using it. All personal opinion, of course, as I don't make the rules either.

As Myth can load Zyklop patches go for it. Save the presets. If its not confirmed, replace Zyklop with Myth und you got a session that would create the same music on a faster machine.
Might be the argument to allow it anyway…

Thanks for the info although this time it's been very hard to keep the CPU in a usable range. This synth eats all the resources.
