SOLVED !_Mac, Sequoia: how do i enable my audio interface drivers ?..it´s about Presonus TB AIs.

if you have a problem with Presonus Quantum TB Ais, "my" solution is in my last post.
in short: crucial, check BOTH checkboxes, while doing the SIP settings in security startup mode. set BOTH !

this here is strictly macOS Sequoia related, please !

i just migrated my system to a new Mac, running macOS Sequoia.
my presonus audio interface Q2626 requires that the drivers are allowed permission in "security preferences".

Presosnus "universal control shows me a popup. if i click it "security preferences" opens.
But: there is nothing there, nothing i could click.
On past macOS´es i would get to see a "allow" button !
That one´s not there !! WTF
What can i do ?

Give this a shot. I have to do this on every new Mac or upon a system reset/format. Also, I assume you're on a newer Apple Silicon-based Mac…

1. Shut down your Mac.

2. Power on by holding down the power button until you see "Continue holding for startup options…" and keep holding the button down until it changes to "Loading startup options…"

3. Select 'Options' with the gear icon and press the Continue button.

4. When loaded, tap on your profile avatar and select Next (little circle with the arrow).

5. Enter your password and hit continue.

6. Go to the menu bar and select Utilities > Startup Security Utility.

7. Choose your main boot disk and click unlock.

8. Enter your disk password to unlock the disk.

9. Now press the Security Policy button.

10. Select Reduced Security and check the radio box beside 'Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers'.

11. Restart.

When you go into your Privacy & Security section of System Settings you should now see a button to click to give permission to your app. The default Full Security boot option often suppresses 3rd party developer kernel extensions.

Note: There's a timeframe to allow this in the Privacy & Security panel. If you don't see the button try re-installing your manufacturer/software again and you should see it after the steps above.

(It´s about my presonus Quantum2626) yes, newest, M4 mac.
i went allready thru all this security start-up procedures, ...enter terminal, enter in terminal: "csrutil disable", or close to that.

hmm, i need to have a look at that.
disk password ?...thats new to me.
you seem to touch there territoty that´s entirely new to me. Need to check.

edit: yes, i have reinstalled the presonus SW several times allready. (incl. deintsalls)
at some point that "activate drives in security settings" (or so) checkbox appeared.
but i´m stuck vs. the macOS itself.
Not sure if your advice is vs. that. Again: need to check.

ok, point 7. ....i found that "chose boot disk" menu.
I have there no "unlock" respectivly "enter password" option. ( i can´t see any)
Are you refering to macOS sequoia ? you have that there available ?

my presonus "universal control" is still not detecting my Q2626.
i still have not any more options to click within "system settings / security settings"

I'm not sure what else to add. Just double check your boot security settings in 'Startup Security Utility' are set to 'Reduced Security' with the radio box beside 'Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers' checked. This procedure helps me get Universal Audio stuff working, but it's entirely possible Presonus haven't updated their driver/software to work with Sequoia yet - so that might be causing the issue. I'd check in with the manufacturer, user forums etc. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Presonus claims it's supported:

Universal Control 4.3.3.100963 released on August 6, 2024, supports macOS 15 Sequoia.

Consider filing a support request with them

Sequoia is listed as supported. The M4, however, is not. So they might have to issue an update so it knows M4 exists.

Do Presonus support a non-KEXT Driver Kit option? If they do, use them, as you won't have to go through this stuff. If they do not then KEXT drivers won't work from the next version of Mac OS..

i did exactly just that this morning

......... are set to 'Reduced Security' with the radio box beside 'Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers' checked.

The stumbling bloxk lied indeed there:
the checkbox you mention, i had that one allready checked ! good
But there is a second one, something "remote control...." or so. I had not checked that one ! my fail ( based on some precautions)


going thru the whole preocedure again, incl. de- and reinstall of universal control (presonus) lead to the fact, that i "then" got to see a new popup window, where i could manually grant access to the drivers ! (i´ve found that setup bevore, "driver access" or something, but the system let me not activate the checkboxes)

So, while i was waiting that the old, common, security settings dialog would show me the well known "allow" button (after reinstalling UC again), it is now in the systemsettings /driver settings (or whatever) subfolder.

So, to check both checkboxes in the SIP setup (in security startup) is crucial.
