Errors when scanning for new plugins after Windows update

Hope this is the correct forum to post this. Using Tracktion Waveform. Haven't been able to successfully install plugins since this last Windows update two or three days back.

The plugins are going in the correct folder(s), and I've had this issue before. Last time, I think I just uninstalled the old and reinstalled the latest version of the Windows visual C++ redistributable (might have also chose to repair after the OS restart). It thankfully seemed to correct the problem.

Tried that again, using the latest post from Nov 15, but no luck thus far.

Help please.

P.S. - I'm using Window 10 (on an older PC).

Define "haven't been able to successfully install". All details might be helpful. Explain every step of the process and the errors you get.

#1 - Test the RAM/memory controller with 3 cycles of y-cruncher tests 17/18/19/20.

-Type 2 + enter

#2 - IF y-cruncher has no errors, check/fix the File System and Operational System Integrity

Thank you for the very comprehensive reply. Gotta do some tracking today, but will try to get on that tomorrow. If it does come to the point of requiring a new install of Windows, I'll probably just break down and get an updated PC. But I've been trying to keep these projects at a zero-dollar budget. So, I'll try those first two options.
