It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

I decided to read the manual to honour the official release, and found a typo.
Page 3:
"The installer will automatically as for an administrator password for you."

Yeah, wow, thanks for spotting that. I'll fix it but probably not do a release until there are a couple of more things that get fixed.

Hey Andy, I noticed another typo or 2 in the User Manual:

"An often sited source of the classic tone of the original Tube Screamer pedals is the use of a
particular mass market op-amp chip, the JRC4558D" (page 9)

"Sited" should be "cited", like a citation.

The potential 2nd typo is the previous page (8) says this:
"but we have not sighted the original patent"

This may or may not be the same mistake, with a slightly different misspelling. Or, an argument could be made that the meaning here is that you have not put your eyes on the original patent, though this would be an awkward turn of phrase, rather than simply saying, "but we have not seen the original patent."

I don't think so... while English isn't my native language I think I understand the difference between both in the given context. Your suggestion seems to to imply to me that the patent factually exists and they simply didn't come across it/look at it yet - the phrase in the Scream manual on the other hand however hints at the uncertainty on Cytomic's part regarding whether the patent actually truly exists (or not).

Right, that's how I took it too. But I was holding out the possibility that it was deliberate spelling along the lines of "Billy hasn't been sighted since his sailing expedition to Bermuda." Or perhaps a UFO sighting.

Yes, the UFO thing is what I meant and the way I understand it indeed: "there are stories about UFOs but personally I have never sighted one." - a deliberate choice of words to imply it isn't even clear it exists without opening the can of worms of outright voicing the doubt. Thus I really don't get the "holding out the possibility" expression.

A: "The forecast was all sun, but we got soaking wet on our hiking trip yesterday"

B: "Why didn't you simply say that you went for a swim at the lakeside?"

C: "I think they rather meant they got caught by the rain"

B: "That's how I took it too. But I was holding out the possibility
that it was deliberate spelling along the lines of "Billy got surprised by bad weather".

Huh? :?

Can totally relate. Forums taught me to read and write, and Slipperman's missives taught me to comprehend.
