I am just curious, how the trend is here. I myself would get rid of VST2 as soon as possible, but in earlier times VST3 variants were sometimes more buggy or features did not work correctly, maybe because of less testing. But I guess this has changed now.

Imo there's no need to get rid of them. They just work. And if I had to switch, it wouldn't be to VST3

i will keep them, love my little vst2 Dll files

Justin (Reaper dev) said they plan to support VST2 for a long time so no need to switch for me anytime soon.

I don't understand the question?
It is, nor will it be, anything wrong with vst2,4 when it comes to plugin users.
It is a developer thing.

Already done. Only vst3 here.

But if developers decide to not support VST2 anymore it will become a user thing.
E.g. in Cubase 14 VST2 plugin support must be enabled explicitly, a sign that they want to get rid of it completely at some point, they also state so.

In my case, I install both because VST3 versions are much more likely to have bugs that can be showstoppers (and often only in select DAWs, not across the board). So I test drive the VST3, and if there are issues, I switch to using the VST version. It's often not immediately apparent that there are issues with the VST3 until you've been using them for a while. The VST versions (if available) normally just work.

There's no suitable poll option for this btw.

If Steinberg want to intentionally cripple their own DAW, that's not going to impact the vast majority of people who are using other DAWs.

This!
But, i'm also using CLAP plugins whenever possible :hihi:

If, like me, you are using Nuendo on a macOS Silicon computer, that's not really a choice anymore: only VST3 plugins can be used (on Cubendo+Silicon Macs, but I understand Cubendo+Windows users still can use VST2 plugins for a little longer before Steinberg pulls the plug(!)).

Having said that, as I'm also a REAPER user I could keep VST2 variants on my machine and use them there but, apart from a few cases, e.g., Ambisonics plugins that work fine as VST2 but not as VST3 (there are apparently some issues Steinberg still needs addressing with VST3, see e.g., the IEM page), I don't see the point in wasting harddrive space, no matter how small, and only use VST3s.
